Well, today I simply got a free sundae at a local fast food place. When my better half gets back in town tomorrow we may stop by a local bar-and-grill that has a birthday special. We go all out on these things.
Squirrels and starlings doing their thing in the spring sunshine. Barren stuff greening. It feels like it's supposed to feel.
For the first this year, had the windows cracked open overnight. I'd forgotten how pleasant it is to be awakened by the first morning song of a cardinal. Grateful for the residual nature around me, and for the wonders of natural life. And grateful that the forum is back.
My mother told me about a cardinal she saw in her yard yesterday. She's very interested in the birds that visit her. So, for her Mother's Day present this year I got her binoculars and a "Birds of Canada" paperback. Keeping with the theme of this thread - I am grateful my mother still takes so much interest in the things around her.
I thought all the cardinals were closeted up in the conclave. *grin* After the chaos of the past few years, I am grateful for having a good job - and a permanent one, too. After the overwhelming heat of an Aussie summer, I am grateful to have the cool wind of winter begin to blow. (We'll see how I feel about that in 3 months' time). And I am grateful to this forum for being a safe space to discuss writing.
