Hello! One day I was bored at work and started goofing off at Google looking for short story competitions and whatnot when I stumbled across this forum. All week I've been debating joining, but unfortunately the only days I really have on the computer are Thursday and Friday. So here I am! I'm 22 and I've been writing and publishing on a casual basis for about 10 years now and I dare say, I think that I'm going to be doing it for the rest of my life. There's something about writing that just grabs at me and won't let me go. I love it and I need it. Well, I should probably get back to work now. Thanks and hope you all have a wonderful day!
Yeah, writing does do that to us. Sucks us in... Have fun at work, although I shouldn't really say that. Hope you have a wonderful day too. (I LOLed at the Salutations part) WELCOME!
Hello Rawiya, Welcome to the Writing Forums. If you were looking for a support group to kick the writing habit, this ain't it! Posting your own work should not be the very first thing you do here. It is really worthwhile to see what other people have done to improve their writing, and see if some of it applies to your writing as well. That is part of why we require members to review other members' work before posting their own for review. On the other hand, there are no restrictions, other than content and copyright rules, on showcasing your work in your member blog. If you haven't explored the site yet, you should probably do so soon. Newcomers often gravitate to the Lounge, the Word Games, or the Review Room, but there is much more to be discovered if you poke in the corners. Remember to check out our FAQ as well, and be sure to read through the forum rules, too, to avoid any misunderstandings or hurt feelings. Respect for one another is our principal mandate. As for the Review Room, new joiners often wonder why we do things a bit differently on this site than on other writing sites. We emphasize reviewing as a critical writing skill. Training your eye by reviewing other people's work helps you improve your own writing even before you present it for others to see. Therefore, we ask members to review other people's writing before posting work of their own. The Review Room forums on this site, therefore, are true workshops, not just a bulletin board for displaying your work (and on that note, please only post each item for review in one Review Room forum). See this post, Why Write Reviews Before Posting My Work? for more information. Enjoy your stay here, and have fun!
Welcome! Shouldn't you be working? Look behind you becasue when you read this your boss will be breathing on your shoulder.
You know, if he wasn't surfing the web too that might be a problem He used to do this job too, so he knows how slow it is. So long as I start doing all the end of day stuff at 2:30 on the dot I'm not going to be in trouble. The guy before me in this job (who just got promoted, I might add) used to bring his laptop on Fridays and play WoW. EDIT: And now that we're waiting for reports to print, my boss is playing his DS.
