Hello, potential friends. My name is Garrett, and I have come to you from the land of the rain and moron -- Oregon. Perhaps I shall stay, perhaps I shall leave and rediscover this place in a week, a year, or perhaps I might never come back. Dunno. Depends on if I like this place, and where Google takes me. I joined up because writing is something that interests me. Now, it's not my top interest, but I like it a lot more than I do math. My teachers have praised me for my writing (Which I think to be a load of crap) so I have decided to try and use it. I feel that I might make Journalism my career, but as of now, my career is pretty much only a simple look on things that might come. I am homeschooled, but I'm also enrolled in an online schooling-thing, so I am able to be online at all sorts of times, so expect me to be on at odd hours. Procrastination is my specialty. Now, I feel that I owe you all an explanation to why my name is "Go_Beavers!" As an Oregonian, I root for the Oregon team, however, having had two teams, I gotta choose which one I like better. I root for the Beavers. I'll root for the Ducks, too, but in the Civil War, I'm siding with the Beavers. Y'all can just call me Beaver or Garrett, whichever you'd prefer. Now, off with me, to lurk about the forum. -Beavers.
Welcome to the site, Garrett. It is always nice to have a new member around. I am Heather and have been here since the dawn of time and if you would ever like a review, need any help or just wanna chat then send a PM my way and I'll be more than happy to help. I hope to see you around more often. Heather
Hello Garrett, Welcome to the Writing Forums. I see! If you haven't explored the site yet, you should probably do so soon. Newcomers often gravitate to the Lounge, the Word Games, or the Review Room, but there is much more to be discovered if you poke in the corners. Remember to check out our FAQ as well! As for the Review Room, new joiners often wonder why we do things a bit differently on this site than on other writing sites. We emphasize reviewing as a critical writing skill. Training your eye by reviewing other people's work helps you improve your own writing even before you present it for others to see. Therefore, we ask members to review other people's writing before posting work of their own. The Review Room forums on this site, therefore, are true workshops, not just a bulletin board for displaying your work (and on that note, please only post each item for review in one Review Room forum). See this post, Why Write Reviews Before Posting My Work? for more information. Enjoy your stay here, and have fun!
I'd hardly consider '06 the dawn of time, Heather, but I might take you up on the chatting offer. And thank you for that information, Cogito. I'll be sure to poke around that area carefully. I read through the basic rules a few moments before writing this thread, (I'd hate to break any rules with my very first post -- veeery baaaaad start.) but I didn't read much else, and I'll check out that FAQ in a few moments.
Such warm welcomes. I'll have to stick around now. And to Maia, Oregon is north of California, and south of Washington. The Californians are known for stupidity and Hollywood, and I know Washingtonians to be cheapskates.* When you add them to the idiocy of Oregon, although not Oregonian residents, the local I.Q. drops quite a bit. *The southern Washingtonians shop in Oregon to get around one of thier taxes, thus I consider them cheapskates.
