Hi guys! My name's Jay, and writing's basically my only hobby. I can't help myself-I have to write something every day, even when there is the distinct realisation that I really should be studying for maths playing in the back of my mind. I'm fifteen, so I'm still stuck at school. I like to write stories that are kind of a mix of sci-fi and fantasy (though probably leaning towards the fantasy side). They always end up pretty unconventional too. I'm here to get objective opinions and advice on writing, since I've sent my stories to my family without much results. ("But it's so long!" "I'm busy!"). One little question: is it okay to post non-short stories here? Like, 25 or more pages?
Hey Jay........15 here too, nd still stuck in skool too.....lol.........no 25 pages are too many, and that's not allowed..........you can either post excerpts, or ask a reviewer for a prrivate review.......see you around. ~Neha~
Hello Jay, Welcome to the Writing Forums. If you're fascinated by sci-fi, as I am, you might even find that a good familiarity with physics, and the math that makes physics come together, is actually worthwhile. And for writing in general, knowing a little bit of everything is an asset! I know school is a steaming heap of drudgery, but don't let it sour you on the pure joy of learning. If you haven't explored the site yet, you should probably do so soon. Newcomers often gravitate to the Lounge, the Word Games, or the Review Room, but there is much more to be discovered if you poke in the corners. Remember to check out our FAQ as well! As for the Review Room, new joiners often wonder why we do things a bit differently on this site than on other writing sites. We emphasize reviewing as a critical writing skill. Training your eye by reviewing other people's work helps you improve your own writing even before you present it for others to see. Therefore, we ask members to review other people's writing before posting work of their own. The Review Room forums on this site, therefore, are true workshops, not just a bulletin board for displaying your work (and on that note, please only post each item for review in one Review Room forum). See this post, Why Write Reviews Before Posting My Work? for more information. Enjoy your stay here, and have fun!
Hello and welcome to WF. If you are into RPG and stuff like that, check out the one I just started. Its called Flight of the Icarus. Thanks!
Heyur Jay, welcome to the wf.org. I am Heather and can usually be found on here at least once a day. If you would ever like anything reviewing, want to chat or need some help with anything, then send a PM my way and I'll see what I can do. Hope you enjoy it here. Heather
