Happy ending?

    People do seem to gravitate towards happy endings. However, sad endings seem to be what comes out of me and I have a feeling it might keep my writing fairly limited in terms of marketability.

    it depends on your definition of a happy ending. Many books are very ambiguous in that regard. Of Mice and Men for example many would call a tragic or sad ending


    SPOILER ALERT * * * * * * *

    because at the end when Lenny is killed it constitutes a tragedy or sadness to many readers but to some others (like me) it is construed as a sort of bitter sweet or somewhat happy peroration in that George can now go on living a normal life and finally follow his dream without having to be dragged down by Lenny's imbecility.
