I may sound thick here, but has any one noticed the Nativity story has striking similarities with the Exodus story.

 

Nah, it's the opposite. They run into Egypt, rather than away from it

 

Both center around escaping intolerance and persecution.

I think it may establish Jesus as a 2nd Moses figure

 

There are many elements that recur in mythology/religion. But Judaism and Christianity are more closely tied together than most faiths.

 

Seeing as one gave rise to the other, yes...

And if you read the Bible, there are numerous comparisons between Jesus and Moses (and Elijah).
