So it seems everyone here is pretty technical, and it seems that your all following the scripts given to you. I do believe that everyone can feed energy to everyone else around them, and that I take a little bit from every person i meet, but really, i don't care if people on this generic, manufactured forum doesn't like what i write, cause its a good chance most of you have no idea what writing is or what its about. but i love meeting new people, so lets sit down and talk sometime, AIGHT?
Oh and another note before i get the admins automated message, im just wondering, how do i post topics in the poetry forum
Hello Gwizday, Welcome to the Creative Writing Forums. This message is not automated. If you actually read it, though, you will find the answer to your question. Please read How to Use the Writing Workshop before you post there. Posting your own writing for people to comment on should not be among the very first things you do here. It is worth taking the time to see what other people have done to improve their writing, and see if some of it applies to your writing as well. That is part of why we require members to review other members' work before posting their own for review. On the other hand, there are no restrictions, other than content and copyright rules, on showcasing your work in your member blog. Also, be aware that posting a piece of writing on any public site, including this one, will greatly diminish your chances of selling it for publication. Removing the writing later does not alter that fact - once posted, it is irreversibly considered published. So do not post anything more than a small excerpt of any piece you are planning to submit for publication. If you haven't explored the site yet, you should probably do so soon. Newcomers often gravitate to the Lounge, the Word Games, or the Writing Workshop, but there is much more to be discovered if you poke in the corners. Remember to check out our FAQ as well, and be sure to read through the forum rules, too, to avoid any misunderstandings or hurt feelings. Respect for one another is our principal mandate. As for the Writing Workshop, new joiners often wonder why we do things a bit differently on this site than on other writing sites. We emphasize constructive critique as a vital writing skill. Training your eye by reviewing other people's work helps you improve your own writing even before you present it for others to see. Therefore, we ask members to review other people's writing before posting work of their own. We also impose a two-week waiting period before you may post writing for critique, to give you time to become familiar with what is expected and how the site operates. The Writing Workshop forums on this site, therefore, are true workshops, not just a bulletin board for displaying your work (and on that note, please only post each item for review in one Writing Workshop forum). Also, please use the same thread for all revisions and additional excerpts from the same piece of writing. See this post, Why Write Reviews Before Posting My Work? for more information. And while you're looking around, don't forget to check out the RPG forum for improvisational fiction. Also try our Weekly Short Story Contest and Weekly Poetry Contest. They actually run more than one week apiece, but any member may enter, and all members are urged to vote for their favorites. Enjoy your stay here, and have fun!
posting my writing is not the first thing i should do in the writingforums? Oh Cogito....you have so many requirements stapled to expression through writing...writers shouldn't limit other writers
No one's limiting you writing. But I don't think it's unreasonable that you contribute to the site, and take some time to find your feet, before you jump in posting your own work.
What Banzai said. And I think it's a bit rude to say that most of us on here don't know what writing is or what it's about. Anyway, welcome.
What banzai said as well, It actually helps if you wait before you post, It also helps you as a writer for giving critiques, so no it's not unreasonable. Another thing "I do believe that everyone can feed energy to everyone else around them, and that I take a little bit from every person i meet, but really, i don't care if people on this generic, manufactured forum doesn't like what i write, cause its a good chance most of you have no idea what writing is or what its about" That's Not true, But what is true.. Most Of us Do know what writing is and what it's about, otherwise we wouldn't be on here. But anyways, Welcome.
Oh and you choose as a writer to listen to people's critiques or to ignore them, We're just on here to make ourselves better but to also Help others, You can listen to our opinions or not but It's your decision as the writer to actually Take in the information or to Sit back and try to fix your own writing, while you may overlook many things that others pointed out. Just a reminder. Have fun at the forums though.
I totally agree with Jay... And you should not be coming on here and posting something so rude right away. You don't really have a feel for what everybody on the site may know, so you have no right to say we don't know what writing is. I love it that you feel you have knowledge to teach us here, but that doesn't mean you should act superior and all-knowing. Nobody can be perfect, so don't act like you are...
It seems that everything's been said pretty well already. Help others, not just yourself. Be patient and get to know the forums. Have some respect. Welcome. NOTE: This should be "you're". This should be "don't". And this should be deleted completely, because, judging by your mistakes, YOU have no idea what writing is about. Thank you. That is all.
