My name is Alicia and i've been a magazine editor for over 15 years, writing and editing primarily for trade publications. I write about technology quite a bit and do occassional interviews for profiles which are a lot of fun. I came here because I want to explore my creative side. I've written poems and short stories for myself but never shared them with others. I'm really looking forward to expanding my writing abilities in all areas of writing and who knows, maybe someday get a book or book of poetry published.

Newcomers often gravitate to the Lounge, the Word Games, or the Review Room, but there is much more to be discovered if you poke in the corners. As for the Review Room, new joiners often wonder why we do things a bit differently on this site than on other writing sites. We emphasize reviewing as a critical writing skill. Training your eye by reviewing other people's work helps you improve your own writing even before you present it for others to see. Therefore, we ask members to review other people's writing before posting work of their own.
