Hello everyone! I just found this forum yesterday, and have been lurking around. I'm from Norway, and oddly enough there is really just one Norwegian forum for writers and it is pretty much dead. Therefore I guess I must go international! I've been writing for twelve years now I guess, and I've written mostly lyrics, poems and short stories. Now I have just started my first full length novel called Halfhearted. Most of my writing is in that funny Norwegian language, so I guess I will use the forum for writing-techniques and feedback on the content of my writings. My novel is about a guy who does everything halfhearted, sports, guitar, writing, school and so on. He thinks if he had put is heart into it he would have been able to whatever he wants, but something is holding him back. He goes into figuring out where this attitude comes from. The interesting part (spoiler alert!) is that he is actually halfhearted, he was born with half a heart, and for the first part of the novel you believe the Halfhearted title is about his take on life, but then you understand it is actually quite literal. I don't know if I will be able to pull it off, but I hope so. And yes, the book is about myself. I was born with half a heart.
Welcome to the Writing Forums. Don't worry, I know what you mean. Even though I write in French, this is the best community I could find on the web. I'm sure you will find the forums useful still. How was it like living with your condition? This is the first time I've heard about such a thing, and I'm a little curious. Also, that sounds like a very interesting premise and I'm sure your novel will turn out to be great!
Thank you! Living with my condition is challenging at times. I have some restrictions regarding physical activities, which kind of sucks. But other than that it's alright I guess. I hope the novel turns out OK. As long as I don't turn it into 300 pages of self-pity!
Welcome to Writing Forums, kaeso! I hope you find what you're looking for here, whatever your interests in writing. This forum aims to provide the best workshopping resources on the internet, and to that end we have a few rules which you should familiarise yourself with before you get stuck in. The main section of the site is the Writing Workshop, where members can post their writing in order to receive critique of their work. However, before we allow members to post their work, they must have met some basic requirements. Firstly, you must have been a member for fourteen days, and have made twenty posts on the forum overall (please note, posts in Word Games do not count towards this). This is so that members, when they post their work, have familiarised themselves with the forums and contributed to them (as well as hopefully learned something for themselves). Secondly, members must provide two constructive reviews of other people's work for each piece of their own that they wish to post. This is because we believe that the focus of workshopping should be equally upon giving reviews as receiving them, as they allow a writer to practice and improve their editing skills, which they can then apply to their own writing. Beyond the Writing Workshop, you will find that we have extensive forums for discussion of aspects of writing, as well as a community area for general discussion. We also run periodic short story and poetry contests, which are good for challenging yourself and expanding your skills. The requirements of the Writing Workshop don't apply to the contests, so new members are allowed (nay, encouraged!) to get stuck in and enter! We also have a growing short story club (think book club, but with short stories!), which you can find stickied in the Book Discussion forum. If you have any questions or problems, then the moderators (myself, Lemex and Dante Dases) should be your first port of call. Any technical problems with the site itself should be directed to Daniel, the site administrator and owner. I would recommend you have a look over the rules so that you know what to expect, and what is expected. But aside from that, I hope you enjoy your time here. Banzai
Thank you. I feel that the story has great potential, but it could become a total disaster if it is done wrong. Luckily I've got all the time in the world.
