    Hello from Brendan

Discussion in 'New Member Introductions' started by Powie, Jun 12, 2018.

Hi, I am new here and want to develop my writing skills with the old and maybe new styles. I want to find what readers like in stories. To relearn to draw the reader in.

I want to write spiritual fantasy, profundity and drama.

I am 46 and from Sydney Australia. Long ago in school I won a prize for writing. I have written a distinction graded business plan at 46 pages but no fiction since I was 24.

I have a creative turn of mind, although I suffer from some disadvantageous illness. I invent devices from time to time and have dreams of benevolent nature for charity and public works. I am interested in developing curriculum seeing things lacking in my own education.

I hope to interest people in plots of light, love and good versus evil.

    Welcome!
    Here's a challenge.
Society is dead. The single family model is dead. Civilization has been destroyed, because we destroyed it - to save the planet. There remain 45 million of us, including 17 million precious children, scattered over the continent. The only modern system to survive is communication. People will be moved constantly to better environs. Every man is a father, every woman a mother. All of us are now teachers.
You are now administrator of child education.

    What should we do first?

I would assume most students had been exposed to pornography, and have them taught a special stream of thought in many classes about the very subjects damaged by porn culture. I'd draw on resources by those from various walks of life and competencies and philosophies that overcame it and wrote or testify about it. Students at 12 - 13 years old would first learn the ideal followed by the broken and repaired models. Idealism, optimism and realism in balance would be encouraged.

Students would have access to several kinds of counsellors. Current abuse victims, past abuse, porn use and drug use counsellors. And career counsellors. Some on school some via communications.

Students would learn aspects of history fairly, showing gains and losses, sources of good and evil. How things should have been, could and would have been. Teaching would create a thirst in students for good things.

Some blame goes to the industrial revolution for our sex soaked culture, pollution causing early puberty, and the films and condoms and the pill followed by the net, and we are in a ditch. The abortion rate is high, they need to come to love life not feeling and money.

Some blame goes to church extremity and some to extreme nationalism, but underlying is human nature, bested by a hope in love and Christ.

    hmm.
I am also a man of strong spiritual ideals. This fictional challenge is a sort of opposition editorial, in that money is gone, industry is gone, power is gone, light bulbs are gone, paper and clothing are oxidized. Gone. Pornography is no longer anything more than bits in a bucket, along with everything else. I know it hurts, but the next three generations born will not see any religion as anything more than information. Buddhism, Hindu, Islam, Judeo-Christianity, and others no longer hold any majority whatsoever, and they can't all be right. There is a running clock, and even thirty seconds of standing debate results in the death of a child. Likewise politics, philosophies, cultures, opinions or beliefs. You and I will be surrounded by individuals with no knowledge of our language or beliefs. This is the challenge. There is great hope for light and love, and faith, but the time has come for decision and action. We sleep and walk to the next food and shelter each day, as strangers in our own strange land.
This is the hard question. Would you serve and preserve the faith of a (insert oppos religion) child, or watch them die?
This is the challenge for us. The Dignity Law now prevails over all.
It is your light and love we need. It's been tough for me.
    What say you?

There are different regions. Africa is no longer a dark continent. There is revival in South America and Eastern Europe. China is converting fast... It is the west that is becoming dark. Nigeria needs schools, Australia already has a system and it is improving in some quarters. Odd programs elsewhere.

An excerpt of your work is fine here. I'm intrigued.
