Hello? I am hoping this is a friendly site. Something happened to my last writing website, and now I am looking for a place to share ideas for writing, as well as playing word games. I am a creative writing teacher full time in public elementary school. Hiking writing and reading are my life.
Thanks Rumpole. Do you know what happened to writingforums? It seems like it closed two days ago. Are you able to get onto that site? thanks for replying
First of all, I like the new avatar - though the old one was pretty cool too. Regarding our old home? No news, but I'm kind of getting comfortable here. Look around, kick the tires, I'm not the only familiar face (though most have different avatars). Good to see you!
yeah, thanks man, it does seem nice here. But are you able to log onto writingforums or is it just me? I get the feeling I was kicked off for some reason I dont even know. Can you get onto that site? sorry if I seem needy. I've been confused for two days now. What an idiot I am. cheers
Welcome aboard. I take it you're a refugee from WF.com? Well, I hope you like our corner of the internet. Please take a look around, and read the rules. We're a friendly bunch, so long as you toe the line If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. I'm always happy to help.
Hello Nacreous, Welcome to the Writing Forums. I see a database error when I try to go there, no telling how long that will take to fix. It all depends on how badly corrupted it is, and perhaps what kind of backups they have. If you haven't explored the site yet, you should probably do so soon. Newcomers often gravitate to the Lounge, the Word Games, or the Review Room, but there is much more to be discovered if you poke in the corners. Remember to check out our FAQ as well! As for the Review Room, new joiners often wonder why we do things a bit differently on this site than on other writing sites. We emphasize reviewing as a critical writing skill. Training your eye by reviewing other people's work helps you improve your own writing even before you present it for others to see. Therefore, we ask members to review other people's writing before posting work of their own. The Review Room forums on this site, therefore, are true workshops, not just a bulletin board for displaying your work (and on that note, please only post each item for review in one Review Room forum). See this post, Why Write Reviews Before Posting My Work? for more information. Enjoy your stay here, and have fun!
frankly I wouldnt have it any other way. you are absolutely right. looking at others work sharpens your skills and also make you look at your own thoughts on writing. Any jerk who would just post their own work but not comment on others work should be booted off the site. This site looks really cool. anyway, thanks for the kind welcome, to all of you. cheers, nacreous
Hello and welcome to WF.org. I hope that you find your time here both pleasant and enjoyable. Take your time to look around and get to know the rules and the way the forum works. Also don't forget to check out the poetry and short story competitions. We currently have two running, along with the major short story contest where there is a cash prize. On behalf of the reviewers, I would just like to let you know that if you would like a review of your work and have not received one, or you would like further reviews, just send one of us a PM and we would be more than happy to take a look as soon as we have the time. There are lots of areas to get involved in, joint writing ventures, discussions all over the place and our community lounge where we can chat about anything in life, within reason. Any questions, there are plenty of us around to ask. Our moderator base are very friendly and extremely helpful and always there if they are needed. So all that out the way, have fun and see you around the boards. Torana
