kaelyn, Ideas are the root tools of every writer. It is solely your imagination that provides the answers your seek. I'm afraid I'm in agreement. Why would any writer give someone else an idea that they could use themselves? I'm all for creative commons, but still... Writing I think is about having the confidence to fail all the criteria you listed. Those 'criteria' - originality, etc., all come with experience and experience comes from writing near-unreadable trash that nobody would ever read. Don't be afraid to write unoriginal stories with ordinary characters. It's the only way to get anywhere else...
