Hello! My name is Dariya or as some call me, Dar. I'm originally from Ariel, Israel (at least that is where I was born and raised). My family tends to travel a lot. I've been to Thialand and China just in the past 6 months. I absolutely love to read and write. It's by far one of my greatest pass times as well as my favorite things to do. If I'm not out hanging with my family and friends, in class, or doing whatever else I may be doing, I'm definately writing anything and everything I can think of. I also love to read, proof read and help friends as well as family with their papers or anything else they may be writing. Besides my love for writing, I also love to sing and dance. I play the guitar and piano as well as write songs and music. I sing for weddings a lot of the time in the summer. I absolutely love doing that. I'm also very into anything outdoors (animals, sports, etc.) I'm also about to start college this fall. Although I haven't choice my major, I'm sure I'll find something that really suits me soon enough. Well if there is anything else you'd like to know about me, please do let me know.
Travelling does so much for your writing, huh? Since I started moving about for work and seeing different things every day, I've developed more skill, insight and understanding than any course or mentor has given me. Because our real teacher is the world, and you really don't see that until you travel. You must have some incredible stories, Dariya So - from one wanderer to another, how often does what you write about change? Lately, I'm fascinated by influence and how it colours our work, especially the outside world. Seeing China gave mine a lot more subtlety and a calmer, less forced flow in the words. My editor got worried - news columnists aren't meant to be nice and tolerant, haha. Anyway, welcome! From another new kid. Let's all stick together, in case they have any initiatory hazings planned
Travelling does do a lot for my writing. It is always sparking new ideas, prospectives and ways of writing. Sometimes just sitting and waiting for a idea that may never come isn't enough for me. If I were to go out and walk around some place new or even in my home town I get ideas for songs, short stories, and poems very easy. Most of my short stories, songs, and poems are forcused off real life events or things in the past (when i start to write them on here it'll probably make more sense.) You are definately correct when you say "our real teacher is the world." There is no book or teacher out there that can teach us whats out there all over the world. Textbooks and pictures can only do so much. It's when you get out there, see, and live it that it all really sinks in and you start to learn. As for my writing, it changes quite a bit. Depending on where I am and what is going around me..that is what tends to influence what I'm writing about. Hope that helps answer your question.
Hello Darya I also play guitar and piano, and sing. And I I´ve created 7 songs already. What kind of music do you play?
Hello Dariya, Welcome to the Writing Forums. Please read How to Use the Review Room before you post there. Posting your own writing for people to comment on should not be among the very first things you do here. It is worth taking the time to see what other people have done to improve their writing, and see if some of it applies to your writing as well. That is part of why we require members to review other members' work before posting their own for review. On the other hand, there are no restrictions, other than content and copyright rules, on showcasing your work in your member blog. Also, be aware that posting a piece of writing on any public site, including this one, will greatly diminish your chances of selling it for publication. Removing the writing later does not alter that fact - once posted, it is irreversibly considered published. So do not post anything more than a small excerpt of any piece you are planning to submit for publication. If you haven't explored the site yet, you should probably do so soon. Newcomers often gravitate to the Lounge, the Word Games, or the Review Room, but there is much more to be discovered if you poke in the corners. Remember to check out our FAQ as well, and be sure to read through the forum rules, too, to avoid any misunderstandings or hurt feelings. Respect for one another is our principal mandate. As for the Review Room, new joiners often wonder why we do things a bit differently on this site than on other writing sites. We emphasize constructive critique as a vital writing skill. Training your eye by reviewing other people's work helps you improve your own writing even before you present it for others to see. Therefore, we ask members to review other people's writing before posting work of their own. The Review Room forums on this site, therefore, are true workshops, not just a bulletin board for displaying your work (and on that note, please only post each item for review in one Review Room forum). Also, please use the same thread for all revisions and additional excerpts from the same piece of writing. See this post, Why Write Reviews Before Posting My Work? for more information. And while you're looking around, don't forget to check out the RPG forum for improvisational fiction. Also try our Weekly Short Story Contest and Weekly Poetry Contest. They actually run more than one week apiece, but any member may enter, and all members are urged to vote for their favorites. Enjoy your stay here, and have fun!
