Hello members of Writing Forum Happy to be joining your ranks and look forward to discussing all things word and writing related. I've written on and off pretty much my whole life, but have only gotten serious in the last few years. The more I learn the more I realize how much I don't know. I write more poetry than anything right now, but don't consider myself a poet. I think poems are an excellent exercise in cutting out unnecessary words and getting to the core of what I want to say. I use Flash Fiction the same way and once I earn my stripes I will have to try out some of the competitions. I've read the guidelines and the rules and everything seems pretty straightforward, and I promise to do my best to be good.
