    Hello

Discussion in 'New Member Introductions' started by swetty, Oct 23, 2013.

Hello everybody, nice to meet you. I'm writing from Venice, Italy (yes, the one with water and boats). English is not my mothertongue, and I hope I can improve it.

I'm not new to creative (and even non creative) writing: in italian, I write short stories, novels and linguistic/historical short essays. I want to try to translate them and to write something new in english. I hope that will not be too boring. :)

I'm a member of a similar forum in italian, so I have some esperience in commenting texts. I can't help in grammar or lexicon, but I hope I can in everything else.

And sorry for my (terrible) english. :p

Boring? Surely not! We'll love to read your stories! And don't say your English is terrible, it's far from that!

I hope you will find your place in our "little" community here and that you both will learn tons and teach some.
    Welcome!

    benvenuto, swetty!
i love venice... it's a tie with paris, for being my favorite city among the many around the world that i've spent time in... been there several times and never for long enough...

your english is quite good, and much better than my italian, so you've no need to apologize...

    baci e abbracci, maia

I don't see anything "terrible" in your English in this post.

If you want us to correct you, "esperience in commenting texts" is missing the preposition, "on" and there are 2 typos unless there is an alternative English spelling of 'esperience'.

    experience in commenting on texts

The other typo is missing the capital E on English.

My spellchecker and the dictionary I use want "mothertongue" to be two words. It's also more common to say 'first language' but that doesn't make 'mother tongue' incorrect, especially among writers who enjoy language variances.

Those are all very minor issues, nothing like we frequently see when English is the second language of a forum member.

    Welcome to the forum.

Yes! Now you have as many likes as you have comments. I know, I'm weird.

    Anyway, welcome to the forum!
