Hello everyone. I am brand new to this scene. I have been ...I'll say scribbling for over half my life by now. I hesitate to call myself a writer. To be a writer means being read and...nobody has ever read my work. It has been over the past few months that life seems to be sending me a message. It's about time I started doing what I want to do and showing what I can do! I have enjoyed browsing though these threads and decided to join. Maybe have a shot at these competitions. Not for the competitiveness, more to see how I can do it and as a way of sharing...me. I like writing, and reading. In books I prefer fantasy, usually something a bit dark, occasionally supernatural. In writing- and in life it seems- I have this habit of poetising (is that a word?) my thoughts. Even when writing prose I fall into rhythm and rhyme. Laying in bed the other night I came up with a motto for myself, which i recite in my head whenever I feel doubt creeping in: "There is a side to me that few people know It was born with me and continues to grow Some won't understand. Some won't like it but it's part of me so why should I hide it?" I want my work to be read, hopefully enjoyed, and shared. So here I go...! Edit: Forgot to add. My name is Lucas. Hi
Hi, Lucas, welcome to the group! Liked your poem - I think it can resonate with a lot of writers, I know it does for me.
