Not clever enough for a legitemately eye-catching thread title so that'll do. I'm from Canada, almost finished highschool (fifth year, doing co-op in the school's library, which has been a mixed bag). I love music and until recently was in a band *this is where the link would be..*. I'm taking a break due to mild (probably seasonal) depression, lack of money for transportation, and just general stress. I've always been a big reader, and occasionally tried my hand at writing. It's a lot of fun for me but I generally have no focus and lack of knowledge when it comes to writing. I use my blog to post stories mostly but I got bored and googled for a writing forum. Voila, "writingforums.org" =] . Thats probably enough about me. I think the review-encouragement system is awesome; it really is a workshop rather than a "look at me" sort of system (which I'm guilty to having been a part of before). I'm not completely sure "how" to review; I posted a response to someone's "A sonnet", but I'm not sure if that is a designated / credited "review". Anyway, I'm liking the looks of this place. =]

Hello Narwhal, Welcome to the Writing Forums. We do have a subforum called Reviewing under Writing Issues that discusses Reviewing strategies. Hopefully you'll find some helpful ideas there. If you haven't explored the site yet, you should probably do so soon. Newcomers often gravitate to the Lounge, the Word Games, or the Review Room, but there is much more to be discovered if you poke in the corners. Remember to check out our FAQ as well! As for the Review Room, new joiners often wonder why we do things a bit differently on this site than on other writing sites. We emphasize reviewing as a critical writing skill. Training your eye by reviewing other people's work helps you improve your own writing even before you present it for others to see. Therefore, we ask members to review other people's writing before posting work of their own. The Review Room forums on this site, therefore, are true workshops, not just a bulletin board for displaying your work (and on that note, please only post each item for review in one Review Room forum). See this post, Why Write Reviews Before Posting My Work? for more information. Enjoy your stay here, and have fun!
Welcome to WF.org I hope that you have a most wonderful and pleasant time here with all of us. Torana
