I should add that my kid is named Bear. And so far, the only people that have any problem with it are adults who are mean spirited. Kids think it's cool. But, we gave him a nice classic first name to defer too.
(Bear was derived from watching Bear Grylls in combonation with the growling sounds and massive kicking he had going on inside my belly. And trust me, the name fits, so I believe in the name finding the kid.)

Charlotte, Elizabeth, Alicia, Aimee, Laura, Lauren - they're all quite traditional but not old-fashioned. Charlotte & Elizabeth can be shortened aswell. Rosa, Poppy, Lily, Hollie if you want something quite feminine.
When I was pregnant my mam wanted me to call the baby Jemima if a girl, Raphael or Reuben if a boy. Jemima (for me) just made me think of Jemima Puddleduck haha, Raphael the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, but Reuben was alright =] except my hubby didn't like it.

Max for a boy is great, it sounds strong. Whatever you choose, it'll be the right name. I don't think I know anyone with the 'wrong' name lol. Hope the rest of your pregnancy goes smoothly & comfortably!

I just heard that the top names for 2009 are Aiden (thank you, Sex and the City...) and Isabella, for boy and girl names, respectively.

Oh...let's see. Personally, I like Sara, I have always liked the name. It is soft and strong, my great grandmother was named Sara. She was a great woman.
Whatever you decide, I am sure it will be wonderful.

My mom picked my name when she was only 10 years old. She knew she would have a daughter named Robin Lynn. I love my name and it truly fits me. As for the name, Belle, one of my close friends called my daughter "Kayla Belle", her name is actually Kayla Lynette, but my friend loved Belle and now it seems to have stuck. She is often called Belle by my friends and a few family members. LOL, you never know how it will go. ;)

Just please, please, please don't name your baby Croy if it's a boy. My parents know someone who did that, and I believe it's actually spelled Croix, but regardless of how you spell it, it's a terrible name. My brothers used to joke about their "croy" factory, where they made crap toys...ugh...don't name your kid that. Please.

Curin, I believe you're thinking of? My best friend's name is Curin, and I love that name. :D Or you could spell it Corinne, like Corinne Bailey Rae, the singer.

Oh, some of you guys are so funny! I have seriously laughed out loud the entire thread!!!

There are some great suggestions though... I'm glad I asked because you guys have better ideas than other Mothers on the parenting forum!

And whoever mentioned that Belle reminds you of Twilight.. Don't dare mention that to hubby... he has no interested in the books whatsoever and thought I was being immature for saying the same thing!

Yes Cog... Isabelle is the number one name here too. Thanks to Sephanie Meyer. Have a look and see how far Edward has jumped up the charts!

Thanks for your help everyone.. I'm going to put them all on a list and run them by the Hubby over the weekend.

Meanwhile... I love hearing your stories...

congrats! I am due in april and going through the same issue as you.

A nice name for a girl is Irelynn, or berlynn, or winter, autumn, or skye
The names my husband and I are choosing between right now are Leena, and Lexie.

we have chosen the name Coen (cohen, cowen, kowan) for a boy.

Good luck! Let us all know what you decide!

Congratualtions! Thanks wonderful news. I love your name choices. My first is an April baby... it will come around so quick, now that Christmas is over.

Will you find out what you're having or will you leave it a surprise? I like having the surprise.

    All the best...
