Not sure if I saw Lanie as an option for Eleanor. Nicknames, Leelee and Cici. You really can do anything with nicknames they can arise in so many ways. Laylee and Ceelee, lenore, NoraLee, Ceelalou. My uncle gave all the kids crazy nicknames that have stuck well into adulthood. Kyle=carl, jeff=joff, or 'mr. but-thee' (i can't explain it), Sarah=Sir or Srilanka, Liesha=felicia or feliz navidad or just feliz or aimless in seattle (can't really explain that one either), Julia=julio iglesias or just julio, julia petulia, petunia rose. Nikola=nikolini chili-beanie, nikola pickle-a, nicodemus, nikola cheese (middle name bree=cheese). Julia acquired a long lived nickname of Muad'Dib which was sometimes Deebie Squat.
Eleanor (Elea) Cecilia (Lia) Following up on what @Etheona Frogg said my kiddos' nicknames are Spriggan & Starfish which have absolutely nothing to do with their names but it suits their personalities. Well, Spriggan does, and Starfish is more because of a consistent trait from birth.
Cesie (pronounced see see or sea sea as they are both basically the same) and keep Elanor whole as it's such a beautiful name.
I like the short version of 'Cecilia', which would be Celia but the only one I can think of for Eleanor is Ellie
