My pen is collecting dust. Damn. Or- Paper is like snow. Ink's untouched. Or- A light bulb flashed; It's gone.
I don't really agree with Hemingway's six word story. Its a grouping of words that suggested there was a story there but it isn't in itself a story. It is a segment of a story in my opinion. Totally my opinion though. At saying that, here is my attempt. The end came, he was alone.
A telephone girl, repeating hello. Sorry for not quite sticking to the rules. It isn't mine by the way, and it's an anagram (a telephone girl = repeating hello).
I think Hemingway's solution was fine. In six words, he implied a sequence of specific events: a pregnancy, the loss of the baby, the devastation of the parents. Yes, it's a very rough sketch. But it met the criteria. As for the challenge itself, I agree that it's not very instructive or useful. There really is only so much you can do with so few words, and nearly everyone who attempts if completely misses the point. Okay. Having said that, I'll post one anyway, so I'm not hijacking the thread: "See, it's not loaded." Boom. Sirens.
