Hello. I have a few goals in life, which I hope to accomplish before college (I'm 14). They are: Play pro soccer (this one waits for after college) Become a successful musician (already in a good band) Become a published author (this is why I'm here) Become famous (not for self gain. I usually think of my friends when I think of this, especially one who has a mental disability. I think if he can say his best friend is famous, it would boost his confidence greatly) So, I'm trying to do all (well, last three). So I'll be posting my stories here, all of which usually start off as a vivid dream.
Hello BluesTribute, Welcome to the Writing Forums. Before you can get critique, you must first give critique. This is not just a quid pro quo, it is because improving your critiquing skills is the primary focus of the Review Room workshop. But posting your own work should not be among the very first things you do here anyway. It is worth taking the time to see what other people have done to improve their writing, and see if some of it applies to your writing as well. That is part of why we require members to review other members' work before posting their own for review. On the other hand, there are no restrictions, other than content and copyright rules, on showcasing your work in your member blog. If you haven't explored the site yet, you should probably do so soon. Newcomers often gravitate to the Lounge, the Word Games, or the Review Room, but there is much more to be discovered if you poke in the corners. Remember to check out our FAQ as well, and be sure to read through the forum rules, too, to avoid any misunderstandings or hurt feelings. Respect for one another is our principal mandate. As for the Review Room, new joiners often wonder why we do things a bit differently on this site than on other writing sites. We emphasize constructive critique as a vital writing skill. Training your eye by reviewing other people's work helps you improve your own writing even before you present it for others to see. Therefore, we ask members to review other people's writing before posting work of their own. The Review Room forums on this site, therefore, are true workshops, not just a bulletin board for displaying your work (and on that note, please only post each item for review in one Review Room forum). See this post, Why Write Reviews Before Posting My Work? for more information. And while you're looking around, don't forget to check out our Weekly Short Story Contest and Weekly Poetry Contest. They actually run more than one week apiece, but any member may enter, and all members are urged to vote for their favorites. Enjoy your stay here, and have fun!
Welcome. I'm Hedge, TheHedgehog. I'm only thirteen myself, so it's nice to meet you. What do you like to write?
Hey kiddo! My, you have mighty lofty goals Its good to have goals. I think that you will find that the forum is a great place to give and receive criticisms, and you will become a better writer through it. A merry welcome and good luck, I will be seeing you around.
Heya! It's awesome to see more young people joining the forum! I can't wait to read some of your work, I'll gladly review it =D - Tiff
Hahah, I loved your intro post. I laughed at the last part, how you wanted to be famous to raise your best friends self esteem -- (was it a joke? if not, I'm sorry for laughing at your post, because it's a very honorable reason to want to be famous for your friend's self esteem) Welcome to the site, I hope you achieve all those goals. Can't wait to see some of your work
I always find it endearing to hear someone with a determination to fufil their dreams, no matter how big they may be. Nice to meet you
