Hey! 8D I'm Mike, and I've done some creative writing before, but haven't finished anything considerable. I hope I can get some hints as to whether my work might be successful, and can help you guys out by providing the same. Oh, and I'll get this out of the way: Posting my own work should not be among the very first things I do here. It is worth taking the time to see what other people have done to improve their writing, and see if some of it applies to my writing as well. That is part of why this site requires members to review other members' work before posting their own for review. On the other hand, there are no restrictions, other than content and copyright rules, on showcasing my work in my member blog. If I haven't explored the site yet, I should probably do so soon. Newcomers like me often gravitate to the Lounge, the Word Games, or the Review Room, but there is much more to be discovered if I poke in the corners. I'll remember to check out your FAQ as well, and be sure to read through the forum rules, too, to avoid any misunderstandings or hurt feelings. Respect for my peers is the site's principal mandate. As for the Review Room, new joiners like me often wonder why you guys do things a bit differently on this site than on other writing sites. The site emphasizes constructive critique as a vital writing skill. Training my eye by reviewing other people's work helps me improve my own writing even before I present it for others to see. Therefore, the site asks members to review other people's writing before posting work of their own. The Review Room forums on this site, therefore, are true workshops, not just a bulletin board for displaying my work (and on that note, I should only post each item for review in one Review Room forum). I'll see this post, Why Write Reviews Before Posting My Work? for more information. And while I'm looking around, I sure won't forget to check out your Weekly Short Story Contest and Weekly Poetry Contest! They actually run more than one week apiece, but any member may enter, and all members are urged to vote for their favorites. I'll enjoy my stay here, and have fun!
Um...honestly I think you should've just let Cogito do his reply post, but that's just me. Welcome to the site. ~Lynn
Hello Mark. You've taken the words right out of my mouth. I hope you washed your hands afterward. While reading what you copied and pasted, of course...
