Hey guys. I'll tell you up front, I'm not very good at keeping up on forums but maybe I can keep up here since this group seems to be busier then my other groups. I am an aspiring freelance writer. I got my first paying publication this past March. I was so happy I photocopied the check.*Hopes she isn't the only one to do that.* You can see a link to it on my site feel free to check it out if you like. I know I have a lot to work on in my writing. I have issues with point of view switches that I don't seem to see when I write and my grammar isn't as good as it could be. Ok let's get a little personal. My name is Elizabeth or Lizzie. I am 22. My writing comes from my desire to teach people that disabled people are no different then able bodied people. I have struggled with a disability my entire life. Oh and funny thing I don't dislike red. Red is actually my favorite color. My main focus is children for my writing but I have recently found that I enjoy writing for adults as well. I hope with in the next year to either go back to school for journalism or teaching. I'm also hoping some time real soon I will have a picture book self published. I write everything short stories, articles and novels and even poems although not as much as the others. So I'll tell you now not that I don't like being asked but NovelShorts I came up with because I write mostly novels and short stories. Not sure what else to say and tomorrow is going to come soon so I'll sign off now. Ask anything you like. I cant guarantee I will answer it but I answer most things. Keep Writing NovelShorts
Hello Lizzie, Welcome to the Writing Forums. If you haven't explored the site yet, you should probably do so soon. Newcomers often gravitate to the Lounge, the Word Games, or the Review Room, but there is much more to be discovered if you poke in the corners. Remember to check out our FAQ as well, and be sure to read through the forum rules, too, to avoid any misunderstandings or hurt feelings. Respect for one another is our principal mandate. As for the Review Room, new joiners often wonder why we do things a bit differently on this site than on other writing sites. We emphasize reviewing as a critical writing skill. Training your eye by reviewing other people's work helps you improve your own writing even before you present it for others to see. Therefore, we ask members to review other people's writing before posting work of their own. The Review Room forums on this site, therefore, are true workshops, not just a bulletin board for displaying your work (and on that note, please only post each item for review in one Review Room forum). See this post, Why Write Reviews Before Posting My Work? for more information. Enjoy your stay here, and have fun!
