Hi! I'm new, just joined today. Hopefully I'll stay long enough to be helpful and receive some writing tips. I tend to be a bit A.D.D when it comes to websites, I join and then lose interest. But I've got my fingers crossed that I'll stay here. I want to be a writer after all, so it would probably be a good idea to stick around. My name is Magenta (for real!) and I've been writing since I was little, but only recently have I started to make stories that are of a semi-good quality. I haven't published anything, but then again, I am only in Grade 10, so I haven't really found a place or a particularly good story to publish. I read a lot of fantasy up till last year, but I've started to branch out into horror and general fiction. Stephen King is my god. I'm excited to meet everyone, I can't wait to wander through the forum. Cheers! Magenta
Hello Magenta, Welcome to the Writing Forums. And there I was going to ask if you go by Anne O'Malley! Shucks. But Magenta is even better. If you haven't explored the site yet, you should probably do so soon. Newcomers often gravitate to the Lounge, the Word Games, or the Review Room, but there is much more to be discovered if you poke in the corners. Remember to check out our FAQ as well, and be sure to read through the forum rules, too, to avoid any misunderstandings or hurt feelings. Respect for one another is our principal mandate. As for the Review Room, new joiners often wonder why we do things a bit differently on this site than on other writing sites. We emphasize reviewing as a critical writing skill. Training your eye by reviewing other people's work helps you improve your own writing even before you present it for others to see. Therefore, we ask members to review other people's writing before posting work of their own. The Review Room forums on this site, therefore, are true workshops, not just a bulletin board for displaying your work (and on that note, please only post each item for review in one Review Room forum). See this post, Why Write Reviews Before Posting My Work? for more information. Enjoy your stay here, and have fun!
