Newbie here. Figured I would get the introduction post out of the way before I started rummaging through the rest of the forums and forgot about it. Not a whole lot to say about myself. Havent writen anything since highschool. Frankly feel that the institution conditions people to hate writing unless they have a profound love of Shakespeare. Ditto for reading. Luckily I was spared a hatred for the last when I picked up my first novel in the third grade and have been an avid reader ever since. Pinning down why I've started wanting to write is a little tricky. I was always terrible at it back in school, But I think I can lay a lot of that at hatred for the subject material and an overall crappy childhood. I guess some of my newfound interest can be atributed to my love of reading and suffecent time having passed for me to forget that I hate doing it. Another possible cause is my new career as a OTR truck driver. While one probbly wouldn't think that driving truck is very conducive to a desire to write, it is a profesion that gives absolutely insane amounts of time to think, read, and listen to audiobooks. Those things, added to a desire to create someting but but having extremly limited options due to issues revolving around my work (namely space and schedule), have all conspired in some way or another for me to give writing a shot. This whole spheel was probbly riddled with punctuation, grammer, and spelling errors. If you see any dont hesitate to point them out to me. It has been a long time and I wasn't good at these things to begin with so I know I can use the criticism in or out of the workshop areas.
