Hiyaaa I'm Natalie - just call me Scribble XD 16 years young, loving life, writing a book, starting college in September (can't wait) Full of ideas and everything, can't wait to get started talking to you all haha xxx
Hi and welcome! There are rules about posting your own work and someone will be along soon to explain it.
Hello Natalie, Welcome to the Writing Forums. I assume you don't closely resemble your avatar... Posting your own work should not be among the very first things you do here. It is worth taking the time to see what other people have done to improve their writing, and see if some of it applies to your writing as well. That is part of why we require members to review other members' work before posting their own for review. On the other hand, there are no restrictions, other than content and copyright rules, on showcasing your work in your member blog. If you haven't explored the site yet, you should probably do so soon. Newcomers often gravitate to the Lounge, the Word Games, or the Review Room, but there is much more to be discovered if you poke in the corners. Remember to check out our FAQ as well, and be sure to read through the forum rules, too, to avoid any misunderstandings or hurt feelings. Respect for one another is our principal mandate. As for the Review Room, new joiners often wonder why we do things a bit differently on this site than on other writing sites. We emphasize reviewing as a critical writing skill. Training your eye by reviewing other people's work helps you improve your own writing even before you present it for others to see. Therefore, we ask members to review other people's writing before posting work of their own. The Review Room forums on this site, therefore, are true workshops, not just a bulletin board for displaying your work (and on that note, please only post each item for review in one Review Room forum). See this post, Why Write Reviews Before Posting My Work? for more information. And while you're looking around, don't forget to check out our Weekly Short Story Contest and Weekly Poetry Contest. They actually run more than one week apiece, but any member may enter, and all members are urged to vote for their favorites. Enjoy your stay here, and have fun!
Welcome!! 16 and starting college already?? Wow, off to an early start! I hope you learn lots here too... have fun!
Hey Natalie, 16 here too, and I love Robert Pattinson....anyways Welcome to WF, hope you have a good time here.
Hiya thank you for the lovely welcome Cogito - No thats not me in my avatar - it is the lovely Robert Pattinson, starring in the new film Twilight. Ok I shall read the rules and have a look on the review board =] thank you Neha - good to see another Rob fan =D
Yeh, haven't seen that one yet, but I have twilight posters on my walls so I can wake up and look at him XD
Welcome, Natalie. I'm looking forward to reading your work and seeing how you deal with critiquing the writing of others on this site. ~Lynn
well i've given it a go, never tried it before, had a look at the short romances, they're my favorites I can see what people mean already about how reviewing others helps you, I will post a short few parts of my work soon, might give a few others a review first just to get into this forum and get to know you all, its really different the way you do things but interesting for sure. Thanks everyone so far all very welcoming
Just wanted to say.. you need to do two constructive critiques before you post any of your own work. Just one of the rules on here
Yeh, i've reviewed about 4 now I think? but I enjoy it so I will continue reviewing them and just add my work occasionally. I was wondering, if I wanted to post a few extracts from my book that I'm writing, where would I post it? In the short story section? I'm a bit unsure, thanks =D
