Ok I hate being a Newbie on a site But so be it . I am a 42 year old Married Mum Work Part time and am attempting to write My first Novel. I am currently reading Cathy Kelly's Past Secrets I love her style of Story telling . My Book is a Fiction based on real life events. In a nutshell 2 People who are in sexless Marriages Meet online .... on an Adult Chat site.... and yes they fall in Love There is a lot of emotion involved and upset I wanted to write this as I know it is possible for people to meet online and become cyber lovers for want of a better word..... Reality versus Fantasy I am on Chapter 5 but am struggling as I am unsure if my characters are developing within my story ...... I even could end up starting over again
Hi and welcome! Hmmm... your story sounds very familiar. That happened to me some years ago with disasterous results.
Thanks for your Message I think many of us (my self included ) have fallen for the online Mr Right? Who turns out to be a bit of a mind player , toys with your emotions ,then says Goodbye ..... Ahh well once bitten and all that ... Still it makes a for good plot within a story Should I ever get past chapter 5 LOL
Don't give up on it and don't start over, trust me, that would end in alot of heart ache, how is England?
Hello Flower Pot, Welcome to the Writing Forums. Posting your own work should not be among the very first things you do here. It is worth taking the time to see what other people have done to improve their writing, and see if some of it applies to your writing as well. That is part of why we require members to review other members' work before posting their own for review. On the other hand, there are no restrictions, other than content and copyright rules, on showcasing your work in your member blog. If you haven't explored the site yet, you should probably do so soon. Newcomers often gravitate to the Lounge, the Word Games, or the Review Room, but there is much more to be discovered if you poke in the corners. Remember to check out our FAQ as well, and be sure to read through the forum rules, too, to avoid any misunderstandings or hurt feelings. Respect for one another is our principal mandate. As for the Review Room, new joiners often wonder why we do things a bit differently on this site than on other writing sites. We emphasize reviewing as a critical writing skill. Training your eye by reviewing other people's work helps you improve your own writing even before you present it for others to see. Therefore, we ask members to review other people's writing before posting work of their own. The Review Room forums on this site, therefore, are true workshops, not just a bulletin board for displaying your work (and on that note, please only post each item for review in one Review Room forum). See this post, Why Write Reviews Before Posting My Work? for more information. And while you're looking around, don't forget to check out our Weekly Short Story Contest and Weekly Poetry Contest. They actually run more than one week apiece, but any member may enter, and all members are urged to vote for their favorites. Enjoy your stay here, and have fun!
Hey, Flowerpot-happened to me once, only the "perfect guy" turned out to be a girl..lol.. Anyways, Welcome to WF..hope to see you around..
HI thanks for your message No I have decided to plod on with my Story and amend it as a finished piece . I live in Wales sorry not England ...... Wales at the moment is mild ....I think spring is def here . lol
Hi Neha , Sorry to hear that ...... It looks like most of the modern society has been on an online adventure ......... So easy to hide to hide behind a computer ....and pretend to be someone else . thanks for your message .
Welcome. I think we've all experienced what you're talking about- that first novel... it's always the hardest to get through. The only advice I can offer is to just write it. Don't worry about how well it comes out or how bad it seems at first. Just get all the words written down and then when you're finished you'll suddenly realize, "oh hey, I *can* write a novel!" And then it'll be easier to go back, edit, and then write your 2nd one.
Thanks Thanks I so agree with you .. I will just keep ploding on untill I get to the end... Then I will revamp ...
