I'm not much of a forum person, but after reading a few topics I realise that I like this place, so I'll write my very first introduction. I might even post! My name is Sara and I'm eighteen. I've always been interested in reading and writing. I spent a tonne of my childhood writing, and the rest drawing. Eventually I started toying with the idea of illustrating my works. Finding that just pictures weren't good enough, I've started drawing my works with panels and things - graphic novels, comics, something of the sort. [Notnotnotnotnotnotnot manga!! I find it insulting when people compare my work to mangas. I find I'm often afraid to tell people this because they always think "manga".] I'm really enjoying doing this, and I'm glad I wasn't too afraid to start. My favourite thing to read is historical fiction, but I also delve into fantasy other types of fiction from time to time. I love many classics, and I love Hamlet. I'm currently reading a biography of Boudica, Life of Pi (school book), and a mentor of mine wants me to read Fifth Business. I'm illustrating Hamlet, and several of my own stories. I'm looking forward to posting here. (Any other illustrators here? )
good morning and welcome. come to the lounge and you will meet most of the folks. keep in mind we call the place the asylum at times. Look forward to reading some of your stories. Myself, I write childrens stories. Guess I never really grew up. nice meeting you WW.
Hi there, i'm glad that you decided to give us a try and I hope that we've not let you down. I look forward to reading your work and perhaps getting a chance to see your illustrations - that's something i'd never be able to manage with my own work, i'm hopeless at drawing of any variety.
Hi Sara, welcome to WF It sounds like you'll fit right in here. Feel free to message one of the mods if you have any problems on the site. I'm not an illustrator, but I do a bit of graphic design
Hello Sara, Welcome to the Writing Forums. If you haven't explored the site yet, you should probably do so soon. Newcomers often gravitate to the Lounge, the Word Games, or the Review Room, but there is much more to be discovered if you poke in the corners. Remember to check out our FAQ as well! As for the Review Room, new joiners often wonder why we do things a bit differently on this site than on other writing sites. We emphasize reviewing as a critical writing skill. Training your eye by reviewing other people's work helps you improve your own writing even before you present it for others to see. Therefore, we ask members to review other people's writing before posting work of their own. The Review Room forums on this site, therefore, are true workshops, not just a bulletin board for displaying your work (and on that note, please only post each item for review in one Review Room forum). See this post, Why Write Reviews Before Posting My Work? for more information. Enjoy your stay here, and have fun!
