Hi! I'm Scarlet_Rhapsody (well...that's kind of obvious because my username is right next to this), but you can call me Lizzy if you want. I found this forum when I looked up "writing forums" on Google, thinking I should have some more experienced writers critique my works. I've been fond of writing stories about science fiction and fantasy for quite a long time, especially when I started reading novels by Jules Verne back in third grade. My family, friends, and teachers have all given me good comments about my writing and have encouraged to keep on writing. My writing experience includes being a writer for a movie my history class made, a few short stories for languages arts, and a novel I'm currently working on. I'm a big fan of novelists CS Lewis (mainly for his fantasy series The Chronicles of Narnia), Jules Verne, and Lois Lowry (she's a lesser known writer, but she recieved the Newbery medal twice). However, I'm a really, really huge fan of Elvis Presley, Alfred Hitchcock, and Rod Serling.I guess that's all I have to say about myself, and I'm sorry if my introduction was a little longer than most...I just get excited about meeting new people I guess...
Hey Scarlet Rhapsody! I found this site the same way too, and for the same reasons oddly enough. Hope you like it here, it's pretty cool. Jules Vernes = awesome.
Hello Lizzy, Welcome to the Writing Forums. I watched a Rod Serling Twilight Zone marathon most of yesterday, and it started stirring some plot ideas in my muddled mind. If you haven't explored the site yet, you should probably do so soon. Newcomers often gravitate to the Lounge, the Word Games, or the Review Room, but there is much more to be discovered if you poke in the corners. Remember to check out our FAQ as well! As for the Review Room, new joiners often wonder why we do things a bit differently on this site than on other writing sites. We emphasize reviewing as a critical writing skill. Training your eye by reviewing other people's work helps you improve your own writing even before you present it for others to see. Therefore, we ask members to review other people's writing before posting work of their own. The Review Room forums on this site, therefore, are true workshops, not just a bulletin board for displaying your work (and on that note, please only post each item for review in one Review Room forum). See this post, Why Write Reviews Before Posting My Work? for more information. Enjoy your stay here, and have fun!
And I also found this site for the same way and the same reasons. Well, make yourself at home, and don't be shy or afraid to talk to anyone, or to express your opinion. Hope you have a nice time here. Seeya later then!
Hey there, and welcome to one of the most active writing forums on the net. I;m sure you're going to become a much better writer than you already are.
