Hey y'all! My name is Crystal. I'm a very proud Army wife to an MP, a SAHM to a 21-month-old toddler, Adam, and I'm also a breast cancer survivor at the age of 27. I've been an avid writer since the age of ten. I'm also a notorious bookworm, if I'm not writing, then I'm reading. I've been working on three project, two of which have been on-going for about four years. Why the length? Well...let's just say that my puter, which had all my info, its hard drive crashed and I lost all my stuff. But since I take notes and jot down bits and pieces of story on paper, I had the general idea of what to do and where to go with my lost books. Still.... Eek! One of the stories I've been working on is pure high-fantasy. Still don't have a title for it after four years, but it's 100,000 words and still going! The other is called, tentatively, Blood Badge - kind of a good-cop-bad-cop crime thriller. The third that I just recently started, dabbles in the paranormal. I feel really good about this one, and I hope something comes of it. So yeah, that's enough rambling from me! Talk to y'all later! Crystal
Hello Crystal, Welcome to the Writing Forums. Don't worry about the title. By the time the book is finished, you'll probably come up with one. Even if you had a title to start with, you might arrive at a better one before you are ready to submit/ Posting your own work should not be among the very first things you do here. It is worth taking the time to see what other people have done to improve their writing, and see if some of it applies to your writing as well. That is part of why we require members to review other members' work before posting their own for review. On the other hand, there are no restrictions, other than content and copyright rules, on showcasing your work in your member blog. If you haven't explored the site yet, you should probably do so soon. Newcomers often gravitate to the Lounge, the Word Games, or the Review Room, but there is much more to be discovered if you poke in the corners. Remember to check out our FAQ as well, and be sure to read through the forum rules, too, to avoid any misunderstandings or hurt feelings. Respect for one another is our principal mandate. As for the Review Room, new joiners often wonder why we do things a bit differently on this site than on other writing sites. We emphasize reviewing as a critical writing skill. Training your eye by reviewing other people's work helps you improve your own writing even before you present it for others to see. Therefore, we ask members to review other people's writing before posting work of their own. The Review Room forums on this site, therefore, are true workshops, not just a bulletin board for displaying your work (and on that note, please only post each item for review in one Review Room forum). See this post, Why Write Reviews Before Posting My Work? for more information. And while you're looking around, don't forget to check out our Weekly Short Story Contest and Weekly Poetry Contest. They actually run more than one week apiece, but any member may enter, and all members are urged to vote for their favorites. Enjoy your stay here, and have fun!
Thanks! Will do! I've been reading reading reading, so I'm learning as much as I can. Don't worry. I wasn't going to post my work until I've really gotten to know the site, read everything I could, then go back and correct mistakes in my own work. But yes, fantastic site. So glad I found this place!
Hello and welcome to the site. I am also a new comer and cant wait to start posting my work, although I am at the beginning as I tend to have all these ideas, and lost when it comes to pen to paper... Or finger to keyboard! Good luck and will look forward to readying your work!
