Hello! Name is Vergil, in hommage to the coolest bad guy ever made (short of the Joker). I love writing, fiction mostly though I am partial to the odd reflective essay every once in a while. I like action stories, hate romantic comedies (don't get me started as to why - I have bored many a friend to tears with my inane rants). I love anime and manga and am currently reading Vagabond which is an adaptation of the story of Miyamoto Musashi, a samurai that starts off as a raw killing machine but who slowly develops both as a swordsman and a human. Highly recommend the book/manga. I am also, as my username suggests, a bit of a gamer. Favourite game being Devil May Cry 3. Also Pro Evolution soccer and am an avid Manchester United fan. Music-wise Huge Metallica fan but also love a bit of Frank Sinatra. Can't think of anything else, well I can but anymore and I'd probably bore you so hard that your ears would fall off.
Welcome. I'm new too. I like your introduction. Your introduction by itself - would be a great introduction to a character. Your are the epitome of opposites and you gave me great insight to who you are - without really saying that much. It's great. My name is Victoria - which I think seems a bit regal and priss- BUT I never have conformed to the name and have instead dabbled in all things ungirly. I like metal detecting, fishing, writing of course and have no fear of snakes, spiders or the like BUT mole crickets and solitary human hair on bathroom floors scares the crap out of me. I have a secret desire to sing and draw -but I can do neither. I'm a closet writer and working on coming out. Anyways, welcome.
Thanks all. Especially victoria, I am quite the opposite. I'm quite happy to live like a slob and upon seeing a solitary hair on the floor, I might very well feel the need to add to it I've recently challenged myself to overcome my fear of spiders and I think I'm ok with them unless they are bigger than can fit inside the pipe of a vacuum cleaner. Metal detecting sounds great but I'm a bit of a stay at home and walking anywhere just makes me tired all over. Still would love to find treasure! Anyways nice chatting, I look forward to reading your stuff
Hello Vergil, Welcome to the Writing Forums. Posting your own work should not be among the very first things you do here. It is worth taking the time to see what other people have done to improve their writing, and see if some of it applies to your writing as well. That is part of why we require members to review other members' work before posting their own for review. On the other hand, there are no restrictions, other than content and copyright rules, on showcasing your work in your member blog. If you haven't explored the site yet, you should probably do so soon. Newcomers often gravitate to the Lounge, the Word Games, or the Review Room, but there is much more to be discovered if you poke in the corners. Remember to check out our FAQ as well, and be sure to read through the forum rules, too, to avoid any misunderstandings or hurt feelings. Respect for one another is our principal mandate. As for the Review Room, new joiners often wonder why we do things a bit differently on this site than on other writing sites. We emphasize reviewing as a critical writing skill. Training your eye by reviewing other people's work helps you improve your own writing even before you present it for others to see. Therefore, we ask members to review other people's writing before posting work of their own. The Review Room forums on this site, therefore, are true workshops, not just a bulletin board for displaying your work (and on that note, please only post each item for review in one Review Room forum). See this post, Why Write Reviews Before Posting My Work? for more information. And while you're looking around, don't forget to check out our Weekly Short Story Contest and Weekly Poetry Contest. They actually run more than one week apiece, but any member may enter, and all members are urged to vote for their favorites. Enjoy your stay here, and have fun!
