Oh, sorry. Had no idea people outisde the US didn't have Homecoming. It's a dance at the beginning of the school year basically like a 'Welcome Back' to school type thing.
Ah. We had Freshers' Ball. Which was a joke, to be honest. £25 for the tickets, we had to make our own way to Brighton, the music wasn't great, and the drinks were so expensive everyone went home sober. But the pub crawls I've been on have been awesome And there's the Student Law Body's Christmas Ball, at Christmas (unsurprisingly).
Ohhhh .... we only have one dance in the entire time at school and that is the prom, which the prom committe is organising now. I wasn't trusted to be on the comitte. Wonder why
No homecoming dance for me, but then it's been a few years since I was in school...unless you count college. I was homeschooled growing up anyway, so the only school dance I ever attended was the senior banquet at my boyfriend's school. I guess it was a success. I married him. Not until a few years later of course.
Not something we really do in Canada. There's so little money in the schools these days that we hardly have any dances at all
I'm missing mine next week to instead go on a trip where I parade around dressed like an Indian. Don't ask...
Yep, I went to Homecoming with my boyfriend two weeks ago. The parties before and after were very fun- there was great people and great food. The actual dance was kind of silly. Everyone gets really sweaty in the dance area- it's like Dante's Inferno, except Dante is a junior grinding obscenely with his soon-to-be-dumped girlfriend, and the Inferno has very poor musical tastes. Then they put on a slow rap song and try to pass it off as slow dancing and it's very funny and awkward. But we had a good time by staying on the outskirts of the Giant Throbbing Mass™ with our band geek friends and doing ridiculous things (ie. me and the bass-playing chick playing pattycake in time to Baby Got Back; doing the Charleston and the Jitterbug to Disturbia; basically just being crazy). We only stayed a short time, which also helped. Any longer and we would have melted. Seriously, the body heat in there is insane. It can be a great time if you don't take the dance seriously; plus the rallies in the week before it are very fun. (Especially if you play in the band. Whoo!)
For those of us who went to homecoming, we need to post our homecoming photos. You all go first, though.
