How many pages do you have up at a time?

Discussion in 'General Writing' started by A.M.P., Jul 9, 2015.

I was just wondering about this recently.

I used to write fanfiction and had one page on my screen at a time so I could see it.
Then I mostly began writing with two pages on my screen.
Now, I have three and I find it very comfortable...

    Anyone else do this?

My computer lets me have multiple pages open so I have one with Chrome, one with Word documents and one with Scrivener. But I slide between the screens, they aren't all on the same page. I can go from Scrivener to the thesaurus with ease.

Sometimes though, I do have text and Word or two Word docs side by side.

I tried scrivener once, but didn't work for me. I just stick to 1 page of pages.

I use Open Office and just zoom out until three pages fit.
On my screen, it's still big enough to clearly see the words.

When I'm writing I only have Scrivener open and I have it handle my work by the scene, not the page, so... not applicable? :-D

I write on MS Word and have it zoomed to 120% most of the time, so I only see about half of a page. There is no particular reason besides it just feels easier to write on.

I tend to have two pages open myself, one word processor (Pages in case anyone's interested) and one with a browser open for last minute research/spell checks/ thesaurus or occasionally some sport on to glace at every now and then!

I use Scrivener and always write with it in full screen,so I guess I have up to 1,5 pages worth of text visible at the very most (centred horizontally). Like Wrey I have my document separated in scenes, so I can't see more than what the current scene holds.

I use Scrivener. I'm pretty obsessive about notes so I expand the note area on the right side of the screen to hold all my musings. This means the actual area of story text I'm typing is not very big - less than a full page, certainly. I don't feel I need to use a lot of text area because I print out my stuff often, and revise with a pen right on the paper. Yeah, it's a bit weird - I mix various ways of working, but eventually a story gets done, so I'm happy. :)

I write on a laptop, so I only have one visible at a time. However, I usually have more than one document open that I tab between. I use Google docs.

I also use Scrivener and always write in fullscreen with the background blackened out and the size of the paper and font so that it resembles an actual page from an actual book. I hate writing with even the tiniest distractions so I'm a huge fan of this function in Scrivener :)

    Hi,

I write on a 17 inch widescreen laptop with it zoomed out to page width so I can see maybe a third of a page at once. Maybe my eyes are getting older but it's easier to see. But I have other docs open - like a thesaurus and a notes doc and I can simply click an icon on the bottom task bar and replace the main document with them, thus switching between them.

    Cheers, Greg.
