Three. I hate having more than five tabs open unless I'm in the middle of researching something. Makes me feel all overloaded.
Would that be a really wide screen @daemon? Being able to see the tab icons limits how many I keep open.
Just a 13" laptop screen. But I have several browser windows open. One window for social networks and forums, one window for whatever topic I am researching at the moment, one window for whatever class I am doing homework for, one window for miscellaneous YouTube videos, etc.
I'm a great one for clearing tabs, so only 2 just now. But if I'm in the middle of researching, going from one thing to another in quick succession, I sometimes run out of tabs, and get told by my browser that I need to shut some down before I can open any more! So it all depends, really. But I do tend to close my main window often and reopen it when I'm moving to something new. Don't know why, really. Just habit?
Four. I don't like having a ton of tabs open at once. I feel like I'm wasting the Internet. I had to have eight open earlier today and it was driving me nuts.
2 on my work computer in front of me. 3 on the laptop at home which i have remote access to for my other job. so that's 5 total. no, neither job knows i'm doing that. yes, i'm badass and evil and pay those bills. ETA: and 11 on my macbook... forgot that's the one i actually use use. ugh.
About 15 right now (of which more than two thirds are forum threads, or forum-related). I usually keep 1 or 2 windows with up to 10-12 tabs each. More than that and I find it hard to get a nice overview of the pages I have open. If only there was a (working) browser that supported tab-stacking... (I miss you, Opera 12, ).
Apparently 20 across 8 chrome windows. I've got worse with windows 8 now that I can't see in my task bar how many windows I've got open at once without right-clicking on the chrome icon.
Counting them all took a while (thanks to having several groups of tabs running as usual); and the grand total is... 85, ugh. I really need to close some of these
