Right now I'm 16 and I have a job as a graphic novel artist. As of now, this is sorta my ideal job, but in the future I'd love to be an animator for Disney, or even a screenwriter for cartoons on tv.

    25. Right now I work as a Technical Writer. I'm still very new to the job, so I think it's too soon to say it is my ideal job. I certainly like being a Technical Writer though. When I was young, I wanted to be a script writer or comic book writer or even a producer. Something along those lines in the film/art world. But, if I stay in the technical field I would may move to the more design side of it, like an Instructional Designer, Web Designer, Graphic Designer, etc.

    23. Ideally I'd work as an artist (fine arts, comics, or concept art, specifically in the video game industry), a novelist, or directing movies. Graphic design would be extremely tolerable as well.

Soon-to-be 20 (July 1st) and I'd love to study the criminal mind both psychologically, but also biologically. If this does not come true, then I'd like to be on the sideline, and write articles, papers and books on the subject.

    I'm 19.
Lately I've been loving the idea of writing screenplays for television programs :p

As for more practical jobs, I wouldn't mind just working in academia, or perhaps going into publishing.

    22. I'd like to do some meaningful economics research to contribute to the field, or at the very least teach it.

I'm 52. I've been in retail/wholesale since 1986 and we just closed our business.

When I grow up I want to be a full time writer.

I sing and play flute in a band and I want to be that too, a singer/flutist.

Home-schooled five kids and they're all off to college, grad school, Spain, Germany... (except the one that wants to go to high school next year), so I want to tutor algebra/trigonometry/calculus to fill the almost empty nest.

I'm 27 and my ideal job would be a successful (even small-time) author. Published, of course. However, I've always had a thing for gaming so I'd definitely would like to own a used video game store (a mom and pop type, not GameStop).

Well I'm 18 years old and I think my ideal job is in teaching english. I love English and wouldn't mind taking the necessary classes to teach it at the high school level. I used to want to be a computer engineer--mainly for the degree-- because even though I'm not math gifted I can do the math and its a well-paying job. It would help me reach my dream of traveling the world.

But after finishing this track season and graduating these last 2 months, I've had a change of heart and the money doesn't matter as much to me as changing the life of some student, being a positive influence on someone. So my ideal job would be an English teacher, with a secondary job as a highschool Discus Coach I want to train kids to throw like I never could without a coach [I learned everything on my own, but had no one above me to make me better I was at the top of my school and had to teach my team mates for 3 years :p] I just want to forge a life that helps others :)

I'm twenty two and just about to graduate! It's hard to pin down an ideal job without experience with it, but I always had the dream of becoming a voice actor. More realistically, I would love to be a columnist. More realistically than that, I'm thinking about going into recruiting. If I can't have a dream job I just want a job where I get to work with cool people and connect with them on an individual level.

I am 76 and retired factory worker. I would like to be talented enough to write books people would read, or maybe an Archeologist.

Aged twenty odd years...But because of a heart condition I am only allowed to work part time, but that part time job is at a bookstore. Literature is my lifeline, so I am right where I want to be. It is rare to be able to say that and mean it, but I am one of the lucky ones.

I'm 22 years old and currently work as a cook. I'd like to go into massage therapy and practice my trade alongside my fiance (who's going in the Navy this year) and travel the world 3 times over!

I'm twenty-four, and my ideal job, if I could be anything, would be being Jacques Cousteau circa 1960.

I'm quite young; fourteen to be exact. I don't exactly have one set job I'd like to do, so it's hard to say. I'd like to mainly be an activist/politician I suppose? I love writing, but I know I could change the world if I truly try. I'd also love to recognized as a philosopher, but that isn't exactly a job these days.

I'm 16, turning 17 in several months time.

My views on life have shifted constantly over the past years, so my ideal job is never concrete in my mind.
I guess for me, as long as I'm happy and nowhere near repetitive or mundane lifestyle then any job will suffice.

It would be intriguing if I were a novelist or fictional writer with no set deadline, free to write in the spur of the moment.

I'm forty-five. My dream job would be touring musician. It'd be nice to make a living writing songs, too.

Instead I've ended up as retail manager. The pay isn't great, but I enjoy working with the public.

I'm 26 years old. I'd love to be a professional opera singer. I've studied nine years for it. Tried a couple of things when I was younger, but I think the boat has already sailed. :(

I do find my current jobs rather pleasant: I teach French and English as a foreign language, for the general public and for academic students ("instrumental" foreign language). I also teach singing and music theory at church. I am trying to become a DIY musician and writer, but I think it's going to take a few years. No rush.

I'm 20 years old. I'm not exactly sure what I'd like to do --but I am in the ballpark. Currently I'm on track to become a certified medical technologist, a clinical science profession. However I also work in two research labs now (one for the experience, the other for pay, in which I perform very different tasks), and I've found that I really enjoy research. The uncertainty, difficulty, and poor compensation for early research careers is concerning though. If I were to continue with my education, I would like to study neuroscience or pharmacology, as I am most interested in human cognitive behavior and how various chemicals can affect the body, the brain in particular. However, academia is a scary and tough career, and I feel it is also not financially practical, despite it's importance in scientific industry.

And while I love writing, i do not wish to pursue a career in the field. My writing has always been very personal. I like to hone my skills, but writing creatively has always been about personal growth. I'm not sure if I would work well if my personal and professional interests collided.

Hm... I'm... twenty something. I don't really keep up with my age anymore. My ideal job would be to writer. It's all I ever thought about doing ever since I was a child. If not that then, then working as an editor at a publishing company.
