I'm 13 and for my job well its kinda complicated. Ever since I was about 4 I wanted to make movies, I would always film myself playing with my toys, creating 'plots'. Though as I got older I realized how much money and people it would take to make a movie. And I have my own universe (like DC or Marvel) full of 103 characters that I love to death. But in a movie or even 5 movies, there is no way I could make them all relevant. So, I either wanna make many novels to use my many different stories and characters, use graphic novels to do the same thing, make a TV or web show (seeing how television is going dowhill), or finding some way to make movies be able to introduce all those characters.
I'm 19 years old, and my ideal job would involve music, mythology and travelling. as they are my three main passions in life. Though I doubt I will be able to get a job concerning any when I'm older, as I currently work abroad pretty much all year and have done for 2 years now (including this year). So yes, anything involving them would be ideal.
Ah, you guys make me feel so old! I'm 22 (going on 23 in a few months) and I believe I've settled on becoming a criminal psychologist. The study of the brain and how and why it works the way it does has always held a great fascination for me, and I like the idea of helping to solve crimes. I'd say of all the sources I could study, the criminal mind is probably the most interesting and unusual. Not to mention it's quite a dynamic career path with the possibility of new discoveries every day! I can't imagine ever getting bored with it, and as someone who loses interest fairly quickly this holds this is quite a good thing indeed.
I just turned 29. I am a stay at home mom, work part time for a wireless internet company, and I am a writer by heart. I hope this will lead to becoming a successful published author. I am working on it
43, and like most here I imagine being a 'novelist' would be my ideal job. I would like to study composition and do orchestral music writing, so if I found a real liking for that, then 'composer' would suit me fine. Either way, at 43 I've less time than quite a few others here for achieving them, so I need to get a move on
16, Of course I'd love to be a writer, but I'm thinking about going into the profession of being a live caricaturist at flea markets and events.
Well obviously my ideal job would be surpeme overlord of the galaxy (I'm sure I'm not the first to say that) ....However failing that (and the reality is that it would probably be a very stressful job), I want to either work at a publishers editing academic prose or be a lecturer at a university. Maybe I'll do both over the course of my life. Oh and I'm "£ going on "$.
I am a 25 year old Mum and i work as a part time bartender. My ideal job would be to own my own shop selling paintings and my designs printed on various products and homewares. I would also love to be a published author, but it's just a hobby and i am writing for myself right now.
Bwahahaha! That is how it often begins. Until the writing bug chews and burows its way deep into your brain and starts a family. Then you are doomed. Doomed, I tell you. Doomed!
I'm 24, I study nursing in Italy, but I'm waiting for a letter from the Swedish Army Recruitment. That's what I really want to do. Eventually I'll join Police School after some time in the service. Just to settle with my girlfriend.
12, and I'd really like to be a novelist, but as I probably can't sustain a life on that I'd like to be a teacher.
This board makes me feel old. I'm 35 and back in school full time at the moment to wrap up my doctorate and after that I plan to teach politics and write books for the rest of my life. I would have been finished by now, but I was diagnosed with a brain tumor about a year and a half ago, so everything was on hold until I went through surgery, treatment and recovered.
My ideal job? Hmm.... I want to be all of these: Writer, Scientist, Editor, Game Designer, Astronaut and Apple/Microsoft CEO.
30 in January. I'm trying to become an English teacher in Japan, with a tenure (not an ALT). Since I'm not a native speaker, it's not easy, but I'm working on it.
I'm as old as a bicentennial quarter. My dream job used to be as a national sports reporter, but I think I've moved on to a higher desire to be a sports agent. Anything sports really, than a hot dog vendor, or the people who clean the stadiums after a game.
19. I'd really love to become a successful novelist, but I'm well aware it's an incredibly hard field to succeed in. I could see myself doing something in the photography/graphics/advertising field. I also consider myself good with music (I play drums and fool around on the piano) so perhaps something in that area as well.
I'm 23 and my ideal job would be any in which I would have enough opportunities for story-writing and abundant source of inspiration/stimulation and also the one that would leave me with some time for writing. I do not want to end up in a rat race of exhaustion, physical and psychical drain and being spit out from it at the end of life as a hollow shell. The field of study disposes with great variety of sources for story-telling... I actually wanted to do the same (or approximately the same, definitely in the field of psychology), but I've depleted my one-shot try for terciary education and further offshoot would be too expensive.
I'm 46 soon to be 47 in 20 days. on the 30th. Gosh! I feel prehistoric compared to everyone else who replied to this thread - the oldest one here I think or the oldest to admit her vast age, but I don't care I've never lied abut my age so I'm not about to start now. My ideal job is obvious - an author, paid and published living in luxury on my royalties - a gal can dream can't she?
Wow some of you remind me of me! I'm 30, stay-at-home mom by day, waitress by night. I was also in nursing school this past year with only a few months left to graduate, and I would love to finish school. But really, more than anything of course, I want to be a novel writer. Only because no matter what I do in life (marriage, kids, different careers/jobs) I always come back to writing. It's like bacon; you can walk away from it, but you'll be thinking about it. It's refreshing to see I'm not alone, that there are other people who know where I'm coming from!
How complicated could a 13 year old's job be? I am pretty sure you aren't splitting particles or creating a way to grow corn in lass than an inch of soil. It might not be a job you like, but any job these days is more than some can work hard to obtain.
Very much enjoyed reading this entire thread. 19 (but I associate best with adults). Grass is always greener it seems when you think about careers. My ideal jobs would consist of traveling, training horses, writing, and filming movies. Particularly spending time in Ireland. Oh yes, and playing in an orchestra. Nothing much... It's hard having many loves.
I'm not sure if I ever posted in here but just for the sake of it: I'm 26, a university teacher and I'd very much like to own a graphic design company and quit teaching. I also dream of finishing my novel and for it to be so successful that they'd make it into a movie.
I'm 15 years old, and will be 16 in less than a week. I have been told by many people that I should go into a career in writing or English when I get older, mostly because people see that I like to write in my free time. However I would love to double major in Structural Engineering and Applied Mathematics. I am a Sophomore in high school and will be taking Algebra II next semester, so I'm taking the necessary steps to reach that goal. I would still love to be published in my free time, though.
