You could also go the route of a villain that THINKS he's a god, and kills everyone that dares suggest otherwise. Think Castel in Supernatural when he went nuts.

That might be a lot better. Which could also make him that sort of deity that feels deceived maybe? And filled with rage. But I see something with smoke being not much about rage. More like sneaky and evasive characteristics in a way. Maybe I can do that for him?

You mean the mage soldier? I could do that, but how could I explain his powers? And appearance wise there is nothing wrong with him being androgynous or effeminate looking right?

Smoke can be ragey if it is thick and black and billowing. Heavy smoke that lurches down a stairwell. Smoke that grows rapidly and envelopes a room of people. It can also be sneaky and evasive. It can be multifaceted. I'm sure that it can show many sides of him. It can also be beautiful. Maybe he can use it to form pictures or make a dress of smoke for a lady or a bouquet of smoke flowers.

I wouldn't describe a "very effeminate man" as androgynous. "Very effeminate men" are still usually pretty clearly male; effeminacy is mostly a behavioural thing (men behaving in ways that are traditionally culturally ascribed as 'feminine').

An androgynous character would typically be more ambiguous, of indeterminate sex (to the observer). They could be either male or female, or they could have both male and female sexual characteristics.

If you don't want cliche, I'd lean to the latter.

Ra from Stargate is a good example of an androgynous villain. .

I actually like this a lot haha. He could have many different forms reflecting his moods lol. Works great.

Perfect actually! This is kind of what I had in mind.

Thanks everyone for all your help!
