I think of this nonstop. Obviously, the kids' roles would never work cause they'd be grown by the time this happened. Jeff Fahey and Elizabeth Mitchell would be ideal for my crime series.

To be realistic, I wouldn't want Hollywood to touch my story with a 300 mile pole. I mean, they like action, not mystery/suspense. When I imagine Hollywood making the movie, I see...

Hollywood totally dumping the whole "Amos is blind in both eyes" detail and only make him blind in one eye. Why?

So that Amos can be a swashbuckling, French version of Will Turner with the personality of Jack Sparrow, who wears an eyepatch on his left eye, is two years older than he's supposed to be (16 instead of 14), and has a girl in his bed within the hour. (said girl being Emily Parrish who is actually the same age as she is in the book, which is 16.)

Good Lord, I can already see Hollywood!Amos running away from explosions of barrels filled with gunpowder, having an epic swordfight in the tavern, etc. The mystery is there, but it's not in the forefront.

Okay, yes, Hollywood does have its moments, but for the most part? Eh... o__O

Hey, there's nothing wrong in making a movie about a Colonial kid that's blind in one eye having epic swordfights in taverns, having a crush on a local girl, etc. It's...just not Amos.

I'd choose a cast of talented and unknown actors who look they way I imagined my characters.

For my other novel (which started life as a screenplay, but I'm rewriting it as a novel), I think the best casting for my lead would be Lukas Haas, at the time he was in Mars Attacks. A kind of geeky late-teen kid, skinny and a bit funny-looking, but in my story he has a strong spoiled-brat edge. Charismatic, but spoiled. I think Lukas could have done a fine job when he was that age.

Agreed. Has anybody seen the movie version of Eragon? Oh god, that was so off. The Ra'zac are flocks of birds in the books, but in the movie they were mummies? And the character Arya didn't even have the right hair color.. and the Urgals weren't even bull type creatures like they were in the book.. they were possessed humans just because the director wanted to save money. What a shame. But even if they released a movie of your novel Link, it really all depends on what Director and Writers you get. If Peter Jackson got a hold as director of your movie, it may have a good chance of winning your seal of approval.

But anyway, back on topic. Im gonna make a list of actors i would want in my movie based of my book:

    Josh Hutcherson
    Dakota Fanning
    Emma Stone
    Brandon T. Jackson
Jim Carrey (I know, he's really crazy. The character i would like him to portray is a little bit crazy.)
    Bailee Madison
    Jake Gyllenhaal
    Abigail Breslin
    Adrien Brody (Cameo)
    Andrew Garfield
    Jenifer Lawrence
and yeah the list goes on.......

Elijah Woods as a 14-year-old? That...would work perfectly, actually. I could totally see that.

The super computer Evanna would be played by Evanna Lynch, and you can well imagine why.

The romantic leads in my tempestuous tale of dangerous family secrets at the time of the Indian Raj will be played by Henry Cavill (went to school with my cousin's son) and Katrina Kaif (she's British but went off to Bollywood). Google if you haven't heard of them yet.

I would have to say Sally Field, who played in Mrs. Doubtfire, since my story has some plot similarities , except mine is different. Sally Field and Daniel just divorced in the Mrs. Doubtfire movie. So did my main character and her boyfriend.

The main character would be a toss-up between
Johnny Depp and Leonardo DiCaprio. The older man,
a magus, would be Anthony Hopkins.

Ooh I like that question. If my current work in progress was made into a film or TV serial Henry Cavill (The Tudors) would be perfect for one of my guys, but for the other fella I have absolutely no idea. But I'll give it some thought.

I've never thought about this question much, but the thread looked fun so I decided to pop in. :)

Ideally, I think a younger version of Emily Browning would be perfect for Adalyn. Sort of like how she was in "A Series of Unfortunate Events," but a year or two younger, and replace the steampunky look with worn jeans and T-shirts that feature her favorite books/movies/fantasy characters.

John Noble and Anna Torv would play every role.

The scary thing, based on their work on Fringe, is that they could probably pull it off.

If I am able to get published, I will not be selling the film rights to the book. This story is my baby, and the thought of anyone else in control of any aspect of it is repugnant to me. That, and I don't trust anyone but myself to care enough about the story to do it justice. But assuming I could have anyone to act for me, there are two stars I can see fitting a role.

Michael Ironside has a marvelous gravelly voice, which would be well suited for my reptilian-ish villains called demons. And Emma Roberts... I don't have a single idea what she's like on screen, because I've never seen anything she's acted in, but just going by photos on Google, she looks like a decent fit for one of the main characters. Though I've actually met a local girl who would be a perfect fit...

Aside from those two, I can't think of any recognizable names that bring my characters to mind. Given the choice of anyone in the world, I'd still go with unknowns who can actually act.

She's one of my favourite actresses. I watch anything she appears in. ♥

I found the perfect person to portray the MC in my WIP. His voice, his expressions, his physique - everything matches. Unfortunately, a plank of wood has more acting talent than him. I've no idea how he ever got on camera (he doesn't even have a pretty face which is exactly why he's perfect for the role, hehe) but it definitely explains why he only has three amatuer film titles to his name.

I'm not entirely sure how I want any of my characters to look.

Olivia Wilde could take on an action role, I'd imagine.
Aaron Johnson's voice fits another character, he'd do well.
A younger Jesse Spencer or Xavier Samuels would do nicely as a passionate, younger character.
Emma Stone could work as the last main character.
Hugh Laurie would make an awesome intellectual/empathetic antagonist.

    House fan here.
This could work, had I infinite funds.

I just watched "City of Ember" and the girl who plays Lina would make a perfect Adalyn. She has the right look without being too pretty and the age is spot-on.

I forgot to mention Andre Royo. He's the best actor almost no one knows about. He'd be a good fit for one of my major characters. Even if he wasn't I'd insist a role for him be written into the screenplay. Michael C Hall is my favourite actor, but as brilliant as he is I'd prefer someone a little lesser known.
