I'm desperate to improve my writing styles, grammar, punctuation, etc. Is this the right place?
Yes and no? You can get advice from others and maybe tips for grammar and punctuation but style is really individualistic and based on so many things. Reading different books will help your style especially, but even then your story is going to control it based on audience. But I'm getting ahead of myself. Use this site to better yourself however you can and I wish you luck!
I second Eliza's response.
For example, I learned how to structure dialogue and fix up my tenses. I came from a filmmaking background so I never had to worry about confusing the reader with my usage of tense. It was all present-tense and script writing has it's own format, so it took me a bit to get used to writing fantasy literature.
Also, I don't think you will find your STYLE here, but you'll probably fine-tune it with enough feedback. As Eliza said, style is something you usually develop from reading different kinds of books. One author's style might impress you over another.
There's always going to be a positive and negative to any online-community. There are going to be some trolls, as well as some good people on here. I like to believe that there are more good than bad on here.
Welcome to the forum!
Yes, you can find help here for all things writing-ly. Also, make sure to give our New Member Quick Start a look. That should help you get started.
