Rogue stared at Kaethe and then to the floor. His eyes reflected a coldness that filled the room with bitterness and darkness. "My father they took my father, and said find him in the keep," Rogue said. ~~~~~~ Enigma smiled at Jules again. "You'll really like the meals they make," Enigma said he looked sadly on the floor, "Meals I wish other people can enjoy and yet they cannot." Enigma continued his clutch on Jules hands, her warmth made his hands feel so much better.
"My father they took my father, and said find him in the keep," Rogue said. "I'm sorry for your loss Rogue, its difficult to lose something of such an important value. We'll help you in your search friend, you can count on it. For now though, you need to gather your strength, I'd eat too, but..." there was a short silence, "lack of a digestive system and all."
"My father they took my father, and said find him in the keep," Rogue said. She gently placed her ahnd on his arm. "I'm so sorry....I know...believer me...I know..." "I'm sorry for your loss Rogue, its difficult to lose something of such an important value. We'll help you in your search friend, you can count on it. For now though, you need to gather your strength, I'd eat too, but..." there was a short silence, "lack of a digestive system and all." She cast another watery smile at Terrance. "Yes..let's eat"
"Yes..let's eat" "I do not think I am hungry but I will have to go in anyways," spoke Marcus with a little of frustration.
The group walked into a nicely decorated dining hall. The walls looked like decorative gold and little sparkles of purple could be seen. The table was large and made out of steel. They saw the creature serving a meal on the nicely woven place mats. "This is Bazar soup," the creatures said, "It's very fruity and spicy."
"This is Bazar soup," the creatures said, "It's very fruity and spicy." Terrance took a seat at the table, he decided simply to sit there. He couldn't eat anything, nor drink anything. He envied them eating and drinking and tasting, he hadn't had anything to eat for 300 years. When he was offered soup he refused it. If anything he was hoping that there would be answers and maybe a little conversation.
The creatures offered Kaethe some soup. She took some, but cautiously. Carefully she ate a little bit and found that the warmth and taste burnt a bit of feeling into her. It strangely helped ease the pain for a moment. She turned to Terrance to see him looking enviously at the food...or what she thought was envious, it was hard to tell with him because he had no skin. "You can't eat can you?"
His hands were like ice, but he kept clutching her own. Jules relented to his grasp. "You'll really like the meals they make," Enigma said he looked sadly on the floor, "Meals I wish other people can enjoy and yet they cannot." She knew she should ask, but her nature refused. I don’t really care, she told herself, so why do I feel compelled to ask? Curiosity, that’s it. I’ll go with that: curiosity of who this weird kid is talking about… “Other people?” she asked at last. The group headed to the dining hall, and Jules took a seat, a bit confused by the creatures now surrounding them. "This is Bazar soup," the creatures said, "It's very fruity and spicy. “Bizarre, indeed. Apt naming, though, I’ll give you that,” Jules said quietly. She waited for the others to eat before she began. Britney encouraged the duck to follow them into the dining hall and sit on one of the chairs. “Do you want some soup, little ducky?” Britney asked. She tasted it herself and smiled. “It’s really delicious!”
Enigma let go of Jules hand only after they sat down and ate. He noticed the stillness of the dining table. "Let's play the dining ABCs," Enigma said. ~~~~~~ Rogue sat down and took a bite. They were correct about it being sweet and spicy. It really tasted like someone juiced a fruit salad and some hot peppers. "This is odd," Rogue said. ~~~~~~~~~~ "When everyone is done with the soup, the salad will be coming," said the creatures, "Enjoy the soup."
"You can't eat can you?" He looked over, "like I said, lack of a digestive system doesn't make it possible. The bright side is though that I never have to go to the bathroom anymore. I miss the taste of it, I miss soup with its warm liquid running down my throat and giving me a comforting feeling. I miss the taste of a corndog at Fenway, watching the Red Soxs in the world series beating the Yankees pants off." He gave a small sigh, "I miss having a body, a body with muscles, with organs, with everything. I still have my feelings, my emotions, my essential soul, but they aren't really effective when you're the living dead. Its all, 'oh no, don't get me scary skeleton man'. Immortality gets really old sometimes." "When everyone is done with the soup, the salad will be coming," "And the torture resumes."
”Its all, 'oh no, don't get me scary skeleton man'. Immortality gets really old sometimes… And the torture continues.” Britney looked across the table at Terrance, feeling sorry for him, but not wanting to go with the ‘poor you’ comfort. It’s never really comforting. She smiled and thought to ask about the confusing thing he said earlier, about his old life eating dogcorn. “Terrance, what do you mean about pants being beaten by red socks?” She knew it sounded stupid, but she couldn’t recall his exact words…
“Terrance, what do you mean about pants being beaten by red socks?” He looked at Britney, "The Boston Red Sox, they're a baseball team, at Fenway Park in Boston Massachusetts, rival team the New York Yankee's. I ate Corndogs, had a Coca-Cola for a drink, got handed foam fingers." He looked around, and finally plopped his head into his bowl, thank god he didn't ask for soup. "Why does this happen to me."
Kaethe placed a hand on his back in a comforting gesture. "We could blindfold you so you can't see us eating." Her attempt at humor was pathetic...but whatever.
He felt a hand on his back, it was a comforting hand. "We could blindfold you so you can't see us eating." He would of grinned if he could, he looked up and said sarcastically, "aren't you just a riot."
"Oh, you know it." Terrance laughed, "Somehow, even in this pathetic body, I'm still able to smile brightly, and enjoy other pleasures of life."
Terrance laughed, "Somehow, even in this pathetic body, I'm still able to smile brightly, and enjoy other pleasures of life." "See! There's the spirit!" She laughed with him, "that's the kind of thing my brother would say, I think you too would become really...good...friends...." Her good mood vanished suddenly as her earlier pain came smashing into her. Stupid offhanded remark. But she hitched a smile back into place, she didn't want to ruin the lighthearted mood.
"See! There's the spirit!" She laughed with him, "that's the kind of thing my brother would say, I think you too would become really...good...friends...." Her smile quickly vanished, but reappeared again. "Its ok Kaethe, your heart aches over your brother's loss, but you'll find him, and I'll help you friend."
"Its ok Kaethe, your heart aches over your brother's loss, but you'll find him, and I'll help you friend." She smiled tremulously at him. "you're the first person to ever off me help, you know that?" It felt so good to finally have a friend at her side. Something she hadn't had in a long while.
"you're the first person to ever off me help, you know that?" "No I didn't, thanks for telling me, I'm feeling pretty special."
"No I didn't, thanks for telling me, I'm feeling pretty special." She laughed, "Well glad to make you feel special"
Roger walked in and closed the door. He sat beside Enigma and then stared at the group. "I think it's time to tell you all the truth about the Forgotten Keep," Enigma said.
"Well glad to make you feel special" Terrance laughed along with her, then he turned when he heard a door close and Roger sitting beside Enigma. "I think it's time to tell you all the truth about the Forgotten Keep," "Please, do tell, I'd really like to hear this," he was feeling in a particualarly sarcastic mood, probably due to Jules negativity, but there were a lot of secrets being pulled out of a hat.
"I think it's time to tell you all the truth about the Forgotten Keep," Enigma said. Oh, no more hoops? thought Jules. whatever will we do? She kept her sarcasm internal though, so that maybe finally she'd get some answers. "Please, do tell, I'd really like to hear this," said Terrance. She almost laughed out loud at Grim and his grim mood. With sarcasm like that, maybe she'd warm up to him yet. Britney put down her spoon and turned, listening attentively, welcoming Enigma to speak.
Roger clear his throat and Enigma swayed his legs back and forth. Both seems downright uncertain if they should say something. "Don't go to the Forgotten Keep," Enigma said, "Roger and I have been bringing groups of time heroes to the Keep for years...none have started time and none have come out alive." "It would be best for your safety that you went home," Roger continued. "This is the first time I recommend to someone, don't go to the Forgotten Keep...it's not worth it," Enigma said.
