I honestly didn’t know where to post this but recently I started writing a fantasy sort of book and finished part 1 One of the characters gets stabbed in the side of his torso with a dagger which gets pushed deeper in by an assassin who came in through the window, he was bleeding a lot and staggered to the wall where his vision blurred and he passed out. I was searching for how long it would take him to heal (keep in mind there’s the possibility he’s partially in-human) I kinda need to know how long it would take to heal, whether he’d be left with scars (or be left with any Immobility and health conditions), any trauma? if anyone could help it would be appreciated
Physically it would depend on what was damaged in the attack: skin, bone, cartilage, muscle, internal organs? Mental damage would depend on the psyche of the person. Welcome to the forum, by the way.
Did some research wanted to know if it sounds about right Basically: He’s suffering a Grade 4 muscle tear which will make it hard to walk while he’s recovering plus an Avulsion which bled lots from his side. He’ll experience extensive swelling and may have to receive surgical treatment. The recovery may take him 3-6 months. Recovery: Immediately he’ll need to stop the bleeding and apply ice to the extensive swelling he may experience after the tear of his muscle. Massaging the area after treatment and resting will help with recovery. 72 hours after treatment heat can be incorporated to steady his recovery. If he isn’t careful he could worsen his injury even after surgery. If he doesn’t receive treatment the muscle damage could become permanent Elastic bandages for compression may also help with recovery
How do the heights of attacker and victim compare? What kind of blow was it? A thrust from close to the attacker's body, or more of a round house blow? With those questions answered, look at an anatomy chart. That will give you an idea of where the injury would be, and what organs are in that area. If the blow hits below the rib cage, there is a chance of the bowel being nicked. If that happens, then you are looking at major complications from infection.
