I don't think you have to worry. There is time before SoulFire posts. Then EFMingo has to post as well. If the plan is to wait for him again, I have a feeling that 7 days of no activity will pass. I don't know why but he seems to have disappeared. I hope he is okay. And then it's my turn after that, so it'll be some time before I post. I don't think your turn will come up before you return. Have a safe trip!!
Yay! I hope you have fun and please focus on that. Don't worry about internet things. It will always be here- but your vacation won't. Make all the memories, have all the fun, and enjoy Orlando! It's a great city and stay safe.
It's shorter than I wanted, but I'm happy with the scene regardless. @EFMingo it is your turn! (Also, in case you missed it, our word limits are now 300 min to 1,500 max!)
I love this scene. It adds so much to Arasbeth's motives and personal feelings. Reading it, I understood WHY she is working with the government. I also loved all the descriptions you added. Great post.
Agreed. Could be a lot of fun. Also, I left a note in the Lore thread. I would like to write Ravenna's recoil to the use of magic. So, that might be my next post. I figure Louanne should write Katara and Dusca's reaction, unless she has something else she wants to do.
Thanks for that. I have to admit I am kinda lost when it comes to all the details of the magic, but I will follow whatever came before!
All the more reason to have a wiki where someone can read about this stuff if they want to. I'm going to get one up and running and write up a well-organized article on the magic system. I'm in academia so I'm trained in this very thing. We'll also have articles on characters, setting, and whatever we want! The more detail, the better, but it should be well-organized (with headings and such) so people can read only the parts they need to. A reference resource will really help people out, I feel. It will probably even be necessary as the story grows more complex.
The queen is already the villain (and this will be more clear soon ) but no reason why we can't have multiple!
That works. I like the idea. I think he could be a really good villain. Maybe he's the one who is experimenting with Dark Magic.
This! But I would say I would like them to be working together, because an obvious boss conga line isn't as entertaining.
Yes, please get started on this. Because it IS getting more complicated than I thought when we first started this game. I really like how amazing this story is becoming. Anyway, please share a link for us to visit. And I am SO glad you're able to write all this, because I don't think I could. Hahah.
Certainly! He already is quite the villain, honestly—just a level below the queen. But I do have an idea around this character that might make him even more interesting, so I might PM you about this soon since he is your character. I think what I have in mind will be an excellent twist so I don't want to spoil it. That works. I think that's how it is in most stories of this type, anyway. I will try my best. I currently spend my nights in front of a screen, writing a REST API. Not for the wiki... just university stuff. I'm very busy! But the wiki shouldn't be too hard to setup since I already have the web server. I just need to find the way to do it. By the way... Our story is currently at approx 17,553 words. A little more and we'll be at 20k, which is 1/3 of a small 60k word novel. I feel that it's time for something very pivotal to start happening, and I have an idea about this, which I've already hinted. My next post will likely feature the queen and a new concept. But before that, @EFMingo needs to post. He did login again but he didn't update us at all, so we have no idea whether he'll actually post anything. Hopefully he is okay.
I hope he is, too. But regardless of this, he has 7 days from Soulfire's to post. So, hopefully he's working on it. And I can't wait to read the twist you have planned. I think the rules should change to just include what I said about not creating 'love interests'/killing of characters off screen/conspiring to hurt the other players. I think I will update this. Because it seems reasonable. Anyway, yeah, the story is getting long. The other thing to take into account is that we have several plot threads going at once. If we had a novel, I would say have things pick up more, but also, the events DO seem to be picking up fine. We have Roman's plot, the Alphabet Mages, the tavern in ruins and a few other plots brewing. No rush with the Wiki, I hope you are focusing on school work.
Now, a FUN post! Reply with your MAIN character's theme song. Because I want to know what it is! (Or those who didn't make a character, favorite character's song.)
ANNOUNCEMENT I have decided to change the transparency rule to the following: 5. Be transparent about major changes in the story and character events. Basically, don't plot in the PMs to kill off a character of another player/create a romantic interest between characters/plot to hurt another player by hurting their character. So, in short, don't go off to the PMs to plot substantial changes that kill off characters, put them in relationships or hurt another player. I am changing it to this so that players can make plot-twists and discuss lore that will be presented to other players once figured out. Of course, I expect players to be able to discuss major lore or plot changes. But this alleviates some of the gray lines. So, just don't go to the PMs to plot against another player or their character. Feel free to ask any questions you may have. (Also, let's be clear. I am changing this rule, because I broke it myself and if I am finding it difficult to follow my own rules, I need to adjust them. Because it was too ridged and impossible not to break when asking for feedback on a new roleplay post. As discussed with the other players, we're all adults.)
There are many plotlines, and we'll probably have many character arcs along the way. I was more or less referring to an overarching plot. Of course! Looking forward to his post
I'm starting to view this less like a novel and more like a TV show in terms of volume of content lol
I sometimes think of my stories when I listen to songs, but I don't got anything for this one. That's interesting. Can you elaborate on that?
I think the point is that Barnabas would absolutely be the person performing the experiments to figure out how dark magic works.
