Great post! I love the way you worked Katara in. I think she is going to get more than she bargained for!
Thank you! I am excited to see how much of a mess Katara gets into due to her snooping. Because that's always how it goes, isn't it? I am glad you liked it.
Ooohhh maybe Katara learns she could do blood magic, then meets Pria who is like her but with magic, and it pushes her over the edge into trying it herself.
Oh. This is beautiful and perfect. I love it. @Louanne Learning, what do you think of this idea? Katara I think would always want to feel special in some way.
I think Katara needs to get in touch with her scientist roots rather than doing magic. She's half-poet and half-scientist (Barnabas is her father) and I would rather see the scientist in her come out.
This makes me realize something... The three characters will go on a journey, right? If you think about it, our characters represent the main social classes. Olive is a mage (not a good one right now, but she will be!), Katara is a scientist and a poet, and Ravenna is the lab rat. This is perfect diversity. Three people, from different classes and walks of life, embark together on a big journey. So much potential. Love it!
I never thought of this!!! AHHH!! I love it, too. Also, you can see in the last post, why Ravenna is useful. She will get information out of people at all cost if needed.
@Gravy I need to skip my turn this go around. I have a very busy week coming up and will not have the time to work on this.
I'll get my post done tomorrow. It's easter here and all kinds of yearly traditions kept me busy. It's been nice though. I've had a good break from my studies.
No worries! Have a day extension for the holiday! I forgot it was Easter tomorrow. Anyway, I hope you have a wonderful holiday!
I'm not sure what it's like over where you are, but easter is a week long endeavor here. We have a μεγαλοβδομαδα, which translates precisely to "big week". That sounds super lame in English. Google translates it to Holy Week. Regardless, this week is supposed to follow the days that lead to Christ's crucifixion and then resurrection. This week is deeply embedded to the traditions of Greek culture, so there are all sorts of things to do. Today is the best day to get this done because tomorrow will be resurrection day. Then on Monday I have to resume my studies... Thank you!
We have "Good Friday" which represents the day of the crucifiction and then "Easter Sunday" for the day he rose from the dead.
That sounds like a fun time! A whole week of holiday is sure to be awesome. You're welcome! I totally forgot about Easter as my family already celebrated the pagan spring holiday of Ostara on March 20th. Even though I live in the US, I forget about Christian Holidays sometimes. Please take your time and enjoy the holiday. The roleplay will be here.
Also, I realized we are in completely different time-zones. So, it's Sunday here. No rush as I was thinking Monday my time.
I imagine so. My timezone is EEST (Eastern European Summer Time). I just got back home and I'll finish up the post. I apologize to everyone for the wait. I'm going to improve on that especially when I'm all finished with my university in May. I so look forward to that...
New post made! It introduces some new lore—mostly a new class of magic to upgrade the magic system. The new class doesn't have a name yet but its "unconventional" magic that your typical mage can't do. I mainly introduced it for Olive. The magic system is still basically the same so don't worry too much about this for now if you're. It will be explored a lot more in depth later down the line. And she has a long way before she attains it.
Funny, when I was working on my post (before I had to skip) I was also planning on having a scene with the Alphabet Society lmao
It was a while before they all made an appearance, yep. Did you have anything specific that you wanted them to say? I could edit it into my post if it isn't too big.
I was actually going to do something really bombastic and have one of them caught / captured by the royal guard. I was trying to come up with a "point of no return" moment to thrust the story forward.
Ah, excellent thinking! That is something that we do need. My post technically didn't do that but I very much intended to try and steer it in that direction. Olive can't do proper magic but this post introduces the type of magic that she will soon start training towards. I would write so much more than I did, but alas, there is a limit! Right now, I imagine that the three main characters (Olive, Ravenna, Katara) leaving the tavern for whatever motive we come up with would technically qualify as a turning point that launches us into Act 2. Part of me wishes that they also join up with the new characters (they're really interesting) later down the line, but that's not up to me of course. @Louanne Learning is next so she'll further steer us into a point of no return.
brilliant story-telling! You know how sometimes when you are reading a really good story and it is so engrossing, so absorbing, and it's like you want to speed up your reading because you want to know - what is going to happen next? - what is going to happen next? - but you force yourself to slow down so you don't miss one single word? That's how I felt reading your entry. I am excited to get my entry started.
