Italics of single quotes for thoughts of character?

Discussion in 'Word Mechanics' started by Tyler Danann, Apr 27, 2014.

Torn between using quotes, italics or even both for the thought patterns of the characters in the book I am writing.

‘So far, so good.’ He thought.

‘So far, so good.’ He thought.

So far, so good. He thought.

'So far, so good.' He thought.

Currently I've gone with no italics and quotes for most of the thoughts except when it's esoteric mind-communications so as to differentiate.
