Bought this book from a second-hand dealer. Nothing like his "critically-acclaimed" The Dream Songs, which received the Pulitzer Prize. It is more self-evaluating, more depressing, more fatalistic, more true. Such honesty came at a cost, this work was received on the publishing desk, while Berryman dived from a university bridge. Personally I find this work better than the acclaimed Dream Songs, more honest, more alive, more daring & with a strength undisputed in the world of letters.
