Thanks! No, I'm not going anywhere but from time to time, I do get bogged down with other stuff (general life, etc) but while I had the chance, I just wanted to say thanks to you all. I only belong to one other forum (which is for women over a certain age) as I am always worried about cliques and being laughed at (don't ask me why) so I was both surprised and delighted to find everyone on here so welcoming and willing to discuss things with me. I know we don't all agree on stuff (how boring would that be?) but it's really nice to be able to have adult discussions about writing and it's sub-topics without going down the 'Oh, look who's chucked his/her toys out of the pram today' and 'I'm better than you so shut it' roads. I know what you mean. This forum has spoiled me for other places. When I visit other forums, I come across all kinds of trolling, rude behavior, etc. that goes on without anyone doing anything about it. This forum is not like that at all. The members here are respectable and willing to help. This place is like an oasis in the desert.
And thanks to you, too, for going out of your way to appreciate our forum. We have a great group of members here, and we all do what we can to make this a good place for writers. I agree with @thirdwind - it's an oasis!
We try. You've joined during a period of change and growth. We can't promise that all the changes and new things we bring to the forum will always perfectly hit the mark, but we are open to the new and the different and open to hearing what the membership wants because without the membership this forum is just a bunch of electrons giggling in a hard drive somewhere.
That's so sweet I was also amazed by the atmosphere here when I first joined. I was still shellshocked by two other writing forums, so my hopes weren't too high, but nowadays this place is my internet home (although recently I've felt like I'm a college kid who's just coming home to wash the laundry as I haven't had all that much time to visit )
Always nice to see people appreciating this forum. Even with arseholes like me hiding in the wings. Forum hug! *hugs everyone*
