Dirk shook his head as Fitz cracked the tank. There was probably an easier way to take care of that, but he didn't care to dwell on it.

He watched Kaeila help load the fuel up, and figured he'd help out to hurry the process. He snatched a couple of white tees, black tees and hats from the station and changed shirts before getting started.

"Jason did you want me to start the dodge. I can help Juice your truck" i said.

"Yeah, move your ass, sweetheart." He gave her a smirk before loading the fuel.

Good thing he changed shirts. The gas sprayed out, some getting on his shirt. He was wearing gas station apparel, a dime a dozen.

She looked at Dirk, his clean shirt, then looked at her own blood and brain washed.

"Hey, where'd you get that?" she asked.

Kaeila went back to refill the can.

Fitz toted two full cans to the truck and began pouring one into the tank while Jason and the new girl were trying to get it started. The others were carrying gas as well. It was nice to see everyone working together, even Dirk in his fresh shirt. Only a crazy man would worry about things like that, Fitz thought, glancing down at his own formal attire. Staying fresh and clean was always a priority for him; he was an expert at slaughtering zombies while remaining stain-free.

After emptying his gas can, he peered inside the truck, looking at the fuel guage. "Almost full," he said, beginning to pour another canister into the tank. "We should start loading up and get outta here."

"Hey, where'd you get that?" she asked.

"They're hangin' up on the side. I got others in the car."

He passed up an opportunity to make a joke, seeing that more pressing matters needed immediate attention. He looked at his white tee spotted with gas.

"Damn, I shoulda wore the black."

Gas sprayed into his face, nearly catching his eyes. He turned quickly.

    "SH*T!!!"

Kaeila took one of the black t-shirts and went behind the truck. A zombie stuck under the truck was still moaning, trying to get at her. She shuddered and for a split second considered putting it down, but how stupid would that be to set off gunfire here, now.

She took off the reaking shirt and replaced it with a fresh one, slightly large on her.

"Way to be, slick." he said to Dirk.
The car finally turned over, and the thunder of a 4.8 liter V8 was a sound Jason loved.
"Pile in!" he yelled. He replaced the jumper cables, and put the Dodge back. He then proceeded to hop into the bed of his own truck, lay his rifle on the top of the cab, and start shooting zombies.

Dirk was the first one in the truck. He picked a spot in the back, so he can be chauffeured like he's used to. Say what you want, but old habits die hard. And in many cases, not at all.

    "Window seat."

He took a breath of fresh air and grabbed his other shirts and supplies and kept them near him.

Kaeila heard the truck start and ran back. Dirk had already secured a seat in the back. She felt she would be of more use in the truck bed, so she climbed in where Jason was already shooting any moving object.

She rumaged through one of the bags of food and came out with a snickers bar. She ate it in about two bites, then, when almost choking, regretted that idea.

Fitz put some full gas cans in the bed, then climbed in himself. "So... where exactly are we going?" It was a useless question and surprisingly sober for him. The road only provided two options: where they'd come from, or where they're going. "I mean, what's the big plan? North? South? The moon? Seriously guys..."

She finally took a seat in the truck bed and looked at Fitz.

"There is no big plan," she said. "Always going anywhere but here. There's no fortress strong enough to keep a zombie hoard at bay, so we just move along. Always moving means less chance of getting stuck, way I see it."

She wasn't sure if he'd understand her, but then he rarely made sense himself, so she didn't think too hard about it. She took off her cap and looked up into the clear sky.

I had made myself useful by staying mainly out of the way and grabbing as much food as I could, though I hide a bottle of Gentleman Jack at the bottom of one of the bags, figuring it'd be useful medically if nothing else. " I still say we head to florida, hot and humid and watch the zombies rot."

Dirk yelled out the window at everybody else.

"Ahem... GET IN THE TRUCK, BITCHES!!!"

    He laughed and sat back.

"Always moving means less chance of getting stuck, way I see it," Kaeila said.

Fitz nodded along, though he didn't particularly agree. They'd rolled in with no gas, no food, and desert on all sides. It was only a stroke of luck that kept them from getting stuck here.

"I still say we head to Florida, hot and humid and watch the zombies rot," J said.

Chances are, he just wanted to get down to the beach and have the ladies slip into something more comfortable. He'd find something to watch, but zombies had nothing to do with it.

"Whatever," Fitz said in response to both of their suggestions. He began sharpening his new sword, using a grindstone he always kept in his posession. "So why did you decide to join us here in the back?" he asked Kaeila. "The cab seems so comfy. Was there someone -- ahem, something -- not to your liking?"

    "GET IN THE TRUCK, BITCHES!!!"

    "I see... nevermind."

Jason had stopped firing, and sat down in the truck bed. He started loading magazines for his rifle.

She couldn't help but laugh a little. "I'm a good shot," she answered. She put her cap back on and scanned the area as the truck began to roll along.

"You got any plan?" she asked.

"You got any plan?" she asked.

"No," he replied sadly. "But if I did, it wouldn't be any plan, it would be the plan. The greatest plan ever hatched. A scheme the likes of which this world has not seen before. I am the Great Fitz McGee. Everything I do is of epic proportions." He sighed. "Unfortunately, I don't have such a plan."

There was an empty silence between them as the truck entered the road and began to pick up speed. He found himself staring at the sky, just as Kaeila had been doing. "An airplane," he said, suddenly inspired. "We should get an airplane. Can you fly? Can anyone here fly an aiplane? We need an airplane, now!"

I had slide into the backseat, Lurraine getting in after me , Sarah had taen the drivers seat. She started the truck moving faster. "So who's for heading to the east coast?" I called out. Realising we should really get a plan.

Kaeila shook her head. She didn't know how to fly a plane, not a real one anyway. She'd flown simulation machines, but that was certainly not the real thing.

But that was an idea. What about a boat, she wondered. "Can zombies swim?" she said aloud, but her voice was muffled by the wind.

    "Can zombies swim?" Kaeila asked.

"Water does terrible things to dead bodies," Fitz said. "I like where you're going with this. A seaplane... an aircraft carrier... pirate ship... I need a parrot... fried chicken..." He would've gone on forever listing random ideas, but his hat almost got snatched off in the breeze. He managed to catch it before it could get away, but his train of thought was broken. "Train... bullet train..." He suddenly remembered he hadn't reloaded his pistols. Distracted again, he set to work fiddling with his ammunition and such.

I sat next to Jake, lost in my thoughts.
I felt sincere that everyone has been so kind towards me.

I mumbled to myself. Snap out of it Lorraine, Stop thinking so much.
I knew my thinking would never end, but my thoughts changed up and I turned my head to Jake.

He seemed so calm, even through all this, like he didn’t have to try. Call me jealous.
For the first time I didn’t have a plan and I didn’t know where I was going, I only knew one thing which was to find Rob.

“Can anyone here fly an airplane?"
    "Can zombies swim?"

Everyone asked questions that filled the truck, flying from every direction and I, well I was so lost in attempt to find my twin brother Rob I agreed with Jake
“Florida sounds nice. we should go.”

I felt bad for having other motives to have them choose Florida, but I had to know.

"Smart and cute." I said with a smile and looked around at the others. "Since no one can fly that is out of the question. At sea if we run out of fuel we die, so I'm not getting on no boat." I said surely. "I got two votes for florida, any one got a realistic, better idea." I said getting annoyed by the crazies spouting nonsense.

"awww thanks Jake" i said as i blushed.
it seemed that ever since i met this bunch of people i have loosened up my hardness. WIERD. i thought.

Jake reminded me of an underpaid journalist, he was right on point with everything he said. Cause and then effect. he explained to fly we would need someone to fly which we didnt and to sail, we would run out of gas and die.

Oh he was blunt, but very understandable. "i agree" i surely stated.

I looked at him, hmmm at the thought that his attitude and intellegence made him so much more sexy. I couldnt help but smile.

Jake started to get annoyed, i could tell by the way his face turned alittle pink and he began to squeeze his fingers together.
i didnt know if he knew i knew, but that was the cutest thing i saw in awhile.

I looked back at Lurraine and any annoyance was replaced with confusion. She had a thoughtful look on her face and was looking at me. I smiled, trying to play it off but I felt my self flush slightly. I straightened my collar and tried to think of something to say, her eyes seemed to draw mine. I couldn't recall ever being looked at quite like that. "Besides if I'm going to die, better some place tropical right?" I said, my mind wondering for a moment of how she'd look in a bathing suit.

"I hate to disappoint you," Sarah said, "But florida won't help much at all." Had none of them even noticed?
'Well, not everyone is a doctor, I suppose,' she thought.
"Normally, it takes about one or two months for the human body to completely decomposes. But with these," Sarah said, motioning out the window at a zombie. "With these, almost all of the microbes and bacteria responsible for decomposition avoid them at all costs, due to the toxic nature of their skin. So it now takes much longer. Probably several years. So I'd rather take my chances up north. I'd prefer cold weather and easy-to-destroy frozen zombies to hot, humid, stinky Florida with moving zombies."

    * * *
Jerry, who had been listening from the truck bed, poked his head in the window and said, "I'm with her!"

"Besides if I'm going to die, better some place tropical right?" Jake said.

    "Exactly" i replied.

I wondered what he was thinking. it would be nice to feel the warm sand underneath my toes and the water, the warm water rushing onto my skin, not to mention him in trunks without a shirt.

"that would be so nice" i whispered under my breath.

I stared into his eyes, very pleased at what i saw, his eyes drew me in, like i was his prey, and i didnt mind it at all. i have never been the one to be conquered but right now, i liked the feeling.

    "Up north" i said.

what was i to do, disagree... she was a doctor for crying out loud. i closed my eyes and thought.
tell me what to do Rob.
i sat here closing every port to myself and waited in silence for the answer. nothing. nothing at all.

    I looked to Jake.
"what next" i whispered into his ear.
