"Zen" is a type of Buddhism (mostly in japan, right?) that focuses on meditation (or does all buddhism do that?) and simplicity.

    Beauty is impermanence!

But I still don't know who the Zen Masters are.

Edit: I know what Buddhism is. I thought you were talking about fictional Zen Masters from a show....see look you got me confused.

zen's really about as far from confusing as one can get... but then, maybe that's just me.

i had a zen professor in college. now that i'm thinking back... some of the classmates did have a hard time grasping the situation of nothing....

Yes. It was actually originated with a dude in India who rejected the idea that a slew of gods determined your worth and social status. It is a meditative, contemplative religion that has several central ideals. One of these is the illusion of form; the physicality around us doesn't actually exist, and so is not a part of who we are. This is why some Zen masters say random stuff to their students. They wish to teach them that complete understanding can never be mastered. Always it is a growth.

And no, I'm not Buddhist; I just did a bunch of research once because I played a Zen master in an RPG once. :D

Well, I could attempt to explain it, but I'm seeing where this is going, and I'm thinking this thread might end up becoming a rather heated religious debate; best left for the main discussion. :D Let's just try to make sure we don't come to that point.

yeah, gotta watch out for those teachers who assume they are the s***, they're not infallable and can't know everything... and any zen teacher who throws BS into the mix doesn't know zen all that well. :p

none taken. I'm Christian and it confuses me more often than not. But more the dogma/man's law for it/BS of many/etc. confuses me than the rest.

    back to zombies anyone?

I concur with the previous statement.
Also, now you have me thinking of the Zen room in Rocky Horror Picture Show.

Are you talking about Guybrush_Threepwood's avatar? I'm pretty sure it's that other kid -- the one who's always trying to capture Zim. I can't remember his name for the life of me. I love that show. EDIT: It's Dib. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dib_(Invader_Zim)

In RPG news: Fitz and Grell just met. I suspect there will be a lot of    pretty soon.

It's actually Nny, short for Johnny. It's from Jhonen Vasquez's comic Johnny the Homicidal Maniac. He's the guy who created Zim, though.

I think regrouping and beginning our trek north would be a good plan.
