Boyfriend ends up in wrong bed PETERBOROUGH, Ont. — A judge heard Wednesday that a man stumbling around in a dark cottage north of Peterborough, Ont., searching for his girlfriend ended up in her stepmother’s bed instead. Crown attorney John Marsland says the woman awoke to find a man in her bed reeking of booze and touching her breasts. The victim, thinking the man was her husband, told the man to stop and he left the bed, but she realized in the morning it hadn’t been her husband. Paul Cowell, 38, who didn’t have permission to be in the cottage, was arrested later that day and charged. The Brampton, Ont., man pleaded guilty to unlawfully entering a house with the intent to commit an indictable offence in the May 20, 2007, incident. Saying it “incomprehensible” how a man could enter a cottage uninvited and get into a stranger’s bed, the judge sentenced Cowell to six months of house arrest and one year of probation.
people need to be more aware of possible dangers of not locking their homes at night while they are sleeping. I feel sorry for the poor woman, it would have been a horrific ordeal, but at least now she will know why locks were invented for doors.
I know that in a lot of rural locations, people tend to be more lax about locking up at night. But nowhere is as remote as it used to be, and nasties can creep into even the friendliest little village.
lol, lessa's blaming the drinker and you two are blaming the woman. I'm blaming both the drinker and the woman
Not at all. The drinker is the one who invaded her bed, regardless of whether her door was locked. Still, it doesn't hurt to be aware that a remote location does not mean crime-free.
This woman's story seems a bit fishy to me!!!! There is just so much I wonder about, too many unanswered questions...
Darn it... You know what you've done now. My head is reeling with all the possibilities of the husband's whereabouts... lol - That actually cheers me up immensely.
Har, I pity the drinker actually. I bet he got a fright when he woke up too, probably will never touch alcohol again. Bit extreme to charge him through. Slapping him around the head a few times would of been sufficent. Urgh, screw firefox for no longer using my spellcheck plugin.
I wouldn't normally resurrect an older thread, but it appears this sort of thing is not as uncommon as I supposed. I quote this directly from a Yahoo! News article: Woman mistook naked thief for husband KUALA LUMPUR (Reuters) - A Malaysian woman woke up to a real-life nightmare, discovering that the naked man who had slipped into her bed in the middle of the night was a thief, not her husband, a newspaper said on Tuesday. The 36-year-old housewife was asleep when the thief, noticing that her husband was fast asleep on the couch, quietly stripped off and lay down beside her, the Star newspaper said, quoting a police report filed in the eastern state of Terengganu. The dozing woman's suspicions were raised when she spoke to him and his voice sounded strange, the paper said. "She then went to another room and found her husband fast asleep on the couch. That's when she screamed, causing the thief to flee by leaping out the window together with the stolen items," it added. Quite unsettling, but least we know where the husband was this time...
