I don't really listen to John Mayer but these lyrics from his song "Dreaming with a Broken Heart" always send chills down my spine. "You roll out of bed and down on your knees And for a moment you can hardly breathe Wondering was she really here Is she standing in my room No she's not 'Cause shes gone, gone, gone, gone, gone" The emotional desperations of these lyrics always make my heart ache. The whole idea of waking up thinking someone is there only to find it was only a dream and you're never going to get them back.
ELEANOR RIGBY. That song GETS ME. Every. Time. "Wearing a face that she keeps in a jar by the door, who is it for?" "Writing the words of a sermon that no one will hear." And the whole line about Eleanor dying and Father McKenzie burying her and how no one was saved. AMAZING. Because it's hard to write a song that is both SO TRAGIC like that one is and yet unspeakably beautiful in its tragedy. It amazes you, where as a lot of other sad songs I've heard only make you wildly depressed, that song makes you sad and makes you THINK. The Beatles = AMAZING songwriters.
This can no longer be permitted. The thread has migrating from single quoted lines to complete lyrics.
I was actually rather amazed this thread lasted this long without going awry. The fact that is is derailing is a sign that it should be put down. I think we have pretty much exhausted the idea anyway.
